Dwayne Johnson has the best look an actor could have for Apocalypse (with the exception of Michael Clarke Duncan if he was still alive).

Tom Hardy is the better actor for that role though. Just look at his Bane performance in The Dark Knight Rises.

I actually think The Rock is a good actor. But only in one type of role. A comedy role where he has to be goofy and charasmatic. Other than that he's pretty run of the mill imo.

I think Tom Hardy is good actor.

I'll take Tom Hardy.

I do not want The Rock. He's not enough of a character actor.

I don't care what anyone says - The Rock was the best WWE superstar of them all!

the rock definitely has the look. he's already played an egyptian villain as the scorpion king. black adam is also from a fictional middle eastern/north african country.

The Rock looks more the part. Hardy could BECOME Apocalypse. I'm fine with either, but Hardy is the first choice.

Apocalypse: "Professor Xavier. Welcome. Apocalypse says, did you bring the rest of the jabroni X-Men with you? Or am I going to have to find their mutant candy asses for you? When I do find them, I am going to layeth the smacketh down with my size 37 boot of death. If you sme...."

J.R.: " Oh my God through hell, fire, and brimstrone, the Cerebro assassin is here. Magneto!!!"

The Rock can't play a villain for shit, it would be a disaster. He already cemented himself as "the goofy likable big guy with a golden heart", can't take him seriously as someone like Apocalypse.

The Rock is already lined up to play Black Adam in Warner/DC's Shazam. I highly doubt they would let him play another comic character for another studio before that gets made.

Rock could pull it off and is a lot closer the body type. But Hardy's experience paying Bane is an excellent prep to play Apocalypse. Granted Apocalypse is far more powerful and has a larger agenda but at their core the characters are similar with a survival of the fittest philosophy at the heart of their world views. Hardy may even be uninterested in the role if he's an actor that doesn't want to play the same type off character too many times.

Hardy was brilliant in "Locke"

Tom Hardy

when casting, always choose the better actor than the one that looks most like the character you're casting for. acting > looks

Apocalypse's looks aren't important anyway. He's a shape-shifter.

I'm sick of seeing the rock. Let someone else take the roll.

I can somewhat see it in his face if the performance is motion-captured like Josh Brolin as Thanos.

Now whether his voice will be on par is another question....

still haven't seen the Coen Brothers movie he's in

The Coen Bros movie is the only one I can think of that I saw him in, and I hated it. It was easily my least favorite Coen Bros movie.

He played a great villain as the King in Robin Hood with Russell Crowe.

He looks more like mister sinister there. In some photos he looks like he could pull off apocalypse. I can't get my hopes up though with how they've already mangled the other good x-men stories they've turned in to films.

Tom Hardy is a better actor, but the Rock would be a better fit in this type of a movie, IMO.

Did you see how cheesy he was in Hercules? He certainly has the look, but a serious actor should play the role.
