Good grief. What an awful turn of events. He appeared to be so casual about it. I figured it was an ankle sprain and muted the broadcast. Then I flip back to see him being placed on a stretcher. Terrible.

Fractured Tibia according to TNT

Tibia is actually not nearly as bad as broken leg sounds. Two months tops. Achilles, fibula would have been far far worse.

not to take anything away from randle but he looks like one of those players that were destined to play basketball at the highest level..not saying he doenst have a work ethic but i mean lets be serious...when u 6'6 and above u basically just gotta be a tad bit athletic, have good hands and understand the game and u got id say at least a 60% chance to make the nba barring any major injuries before college and getting introduced to the game at an early age..hell we've seen players like tim duncan, embiid and olajuwan pick up the game later in life and go on to have hall of fame careers. of course the jury is still out on embiid...but when u blessed with height i feel the path to the nba is a slight easier than say for someone 6 feet 5 or shorter.

i do wish randle a speedy recovery and if it is a broken leg thats a good sign since its just a bone which will heal perfectly and wont take anything away from him athletically or confidence wise

With Byron Scott as coach you better add another 2+ months, and if he's badly out of shape then you minds well not to expect to see him for 6months

Blake Griffin injured himself during pre-season, Randle already played an NBA game this season, so technically he wouldn't qualify for next year, unless the league makes an exception because he barely played and got injured in his first game...

And he could be back to finish the season, depending if he needs surgery or not. He could only miss 2 months.

Just a broken leg, not a knee or anything joint related which are much worse injuries

Worthy had the exact same injury his rookie year

Barring complications like his body doesn't heal like the rest of us he'll be good to go

So is like PG's? Where it was a clean break and he'll be able to come back healthy in about a year or a bit less?

So even one game barely playing 20 minutes can count as a rookie season?

Wow there goes that ROY award to Randle's resume of greatness.

Honestly I don't know the extent of the injury. I didn't want to watch the footage as I get queasy from watching bones breaking (Kevin Ware injury).

we'll see... like you said nothing confirmed, surgery would certainly complicate things

i tend to lean towards the short term because they had to use x-ray to confirm the break last night so it obviously wasn't apparent to the trainers it was broken

keeping finger crossed for the kid, rough way to start your career but as Kobe says he has a good team of doctors and a great support group behind him

SB Nation said it's likely he's out the rest of the season and could possibly have surgery today. I don't think anything's confirmed, but I read that this morning.Yep, to piggy back off this, I think SB was probably pulling from the LA Times:
Randle, the seventh overall pick in the draft, is expected to have surgery as early as Wednesday and will probably miss the entire season. He had two points on one-for-three shooting in 13 minutes when he left the game.http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/la-sp-lakers-rockets-20141029-story.html

I think it's tough to tell the severity of injuries sometimes, especially if they're not visible and/or met with agonizing pain from the player suffering the ailment.

I am surprised this break would require surgery...... Oh well, what do I know. Man, that frontcourt rotation lost any of its potential for growth and excitement. This is going to be a long season for Lakers fans

ESPN saying out for the year.

Gotta feel bad for Laker fans. They spent all last year tanking for this pick and now they are going to be a bad team again but they don't even get the entertainment of watching Randle grow over the course of the year.

That's what made Clipper seasons bearable for a long time because it is interesting seeing young players grow... watching a bunch of old vets come in 11th in the west? That's brutal, esp as PHX has their 1st rounder...

At least there is Jordan Clarkson!!
