Wade's ECF: 26 PPG / 4.5 RPG / 4.7 APG / 1.7 SPG / 1 BPG on 44%

Bit of an up and down series... But we see glimpses of healthy Dwyane and whar he's capable of. Got injured, missed game 6, and then still hurt capped off the series in a bad and awfully close game 7 loss...

Really a once in a generation talent like a LeBron, his career was supposed to pan out similarly... :(

What is this? The only good series Wade has had was the ref induced 2006 Finals.

That injury killed his averages. He was averaging 28/5/5.5 on 47% prior. A 2nd year player at the time.

Prime Kobe the season before got locked down to 22/4/4 38% FG 4 TO vs that same Pistons team.

2004-2007 Wade before the shoulder injury was ridiculous.

Was a compete and utter savage the whole 2005 playoffs. If it weren't for that damn freak rib injury.

during that playoff run, wade killed it throughout the first two rounds. in the first round he averaged 30+ppg, 50%+fg, 7asst, 7rebs, joining a few alltime greats to acheive those stats, on his way to sweeping the nets. in the next round in another sweep of the wizards, he was even better averaging 30+ppg, 50%+fg, 8asst, 8rebs.

so leading up to the ECF against the defending champs, the story was all about wade going up against the exact same defense that thoroughly humiliated kobe the year before. his first "real test" of the playoffs. in game 1, wade had a kobe-esque game and everyone was ready to claim that wade is just not gonna be able to get it done against this defense the same way that kobe couldnt get it done. but wade went back to the drawing board, adjusted his game, came out in game 2 and scored 40 points. from then on, wade was having his way with the defense just like the two series before. it was beginning to look like a cakewalk to the finals, but wade suffered the rib injury.

but then the next year, wade completely obliterated the pistons. 27ppg 63% fg. first 4 games of that series, he averaged 30+ on 70%.

Yep. I knew Wade was REALLY good up to that point, but in the '05 playoffs I realized he could be an all time great. The Heat unquestionably beat Detroit and would have had a great shot at beating the Spurs had Wade not been injured. The '05 heat had the best combination of Wade and Shaq and were a better team than in '06 imo.

Actually the rule change came the next season where Mr. Whistle put up 27/5/6 on 62% FG against the vaunted Pistons defense (they started playing some 'zone' once Flip Saunders took over from Larry Brown that season):

Dude was literally walking to the basket completely unimpeded. Advanced Defense indeed :oldlol:
