Record companies (and also other forms of media and any business) is concerned with only one thing, to be profitable and make as much profit as possible. They aren't trying to make great art or promote stereotypes. they just try to pump out what they think is popular.

I think you know what I mean by being used. Homie is just following the dumb nigha that rap role. He ain't talking about nothing and they just gonna find another tool to do the same since je just went to prison.

The music industry just gives the people the music and acts they want though. Record companies would be fighting over the new KRS-One if that was what sold records.

Cooning is what the audience craves, cooning is what the audience receives. There is no conspiracy or deliberate ill will behind it.
