View Full Version : Terrible Beginning for the Cavs

This is a horrible loss for the Cavs. Yeah, yeah it's only the first game of the season. But still...

They couldn't ride the wave of good emotion on LeBron's return. How are they going to react to the emotion and pressure of the playoffs?

LeBron looked bad. Like, really bad. His only FGs were gifts or left wide open. 8 turnovers. He wasn't even close to the best player on his team.

They lost to the Knicks. At home. The same Knicks team that Chicago just dominated the night before at the Garden. AND the Knicks were playing on the second night of a back-to-back!

How can the Cavs be the favorites to win the title when the Bulls look like they will run away with a weak Leastern Conference? Tomorrow night will be interesting...I expect a bloodbath.

LeBron starting 0-2? What will the excuses be? So much nauseating hype...

Cavs season's over, they should trade him

It will be full panic mode if the Bulls thrash the Cavs tonight.

The Cavs already wilted in the spotlight because they have no one to take over the game in prime time. Love and Kyrie are great players but have zero big game experience. LeBron is thoroughly documented to shy away from pressure. They have a new coach. Who on this team is going to say, "I got this!" during a late-game timeout? Anderson Varejao? Mike Miller? Who? :confusedshrug:

Heck, the LeBron trolls are already starting to meltdown after just one embarrassing game.

Tonight's game is going to be very interesting, to say the least. :D

They better trade him or he's gonna leave again and Cleveland ends up with nothing. :lol

Any one making judgements before about January is a fool. And they are also probably new fans to the NBA... just four years ago we saw Miami start the season 8-9 over the first 17 games.

he also looked bad the 1st game when he played for Miami
Melo looked bad the first game he played in the triangle
bad games happen

if the Cavs start out 0-2, it's good for them...plenty overhype, but they'll figure it out somehow. it's what superstars do, and there 2 of them on this team and 1 all-star in Irving on his way up

We saw none of the "best offense in NBA history". Their defense looked bad to mediocre. LeBron played like he's done. He's probably not, but the way he played was very...pedestrian, which is a troubling sign coming from the "best player on the planet".

Oh, and they got man-handled by a not so good Knicks team that got shellacked by the Bulls at the Garden the night before. What's that? The Knicks were also playing the second game of a back-to-back and embarrassed the Cavs at home in the "biggest sporting events that's up there ever."

Kyrie and Love are great players but have no playoff experience. This isn't Miami with future HoFer D. Wade, veteran All Star Chris Bosh or perhaps the greatest shooter ever, future HoFer Ray Allen. LeBron's the "battle-tested champion" and will be required to lead this team, which is not what he signed up for nor what he's good at. He saw more talent and wanted to coast to another ring. Not gonna happen, and there's no Wade or Ray Allen to bail him out this time.

Talk about blowing your load, prematurely. Serious question: Is this your first time watching an NBA game?

Self-professed "Clippers fan".

Ignored.

The next two games are really tough, so the Cavs could very conceivably start 0-3. And then what ? The media will overblow it completely, but it won't actually matter very much. Losing a couple of games in a row is normal, it happens to pretty much every team every year.

In any case I think it will be good for the Cavs overall. They got nothing but positive press all summer, but the reality is still that the team is very inexperienced, and they need to go through some tough times to become great.

Wait is that supposed to mean anything?

I'm glad that you can post "certainties" and "facts" after one NBA game though, a season opener no less. Will make for a good bump by seasons end

Lebron is pretty good in come-back games...but I think the roles flip and he has a pretty good game while Love or Irving, or just the rest of the Cavs flop tonight.

agree completely though...it's a whole new squad coming out, 1st game and extremely hyped. it'll level itself out over the next couple weeks and then all is back to normally scheduled prgramming

It's not the loss that matters, it's how they lost. That's the point. They are nowhere near prime time, and now they don't have an offseason to work out the issues. It's all trial by fire now.

And I doubt the media will overblow it, except for maybe Skip. Which will be hilarious.

I mean, aside from the TNT guys going out of their way to protect Bran last night, we get Windhorst writing this tripe today:

"It was such an outlier because of the overwhelming force of James' return that it sort of ruled the game invalid."

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11795404/cavs-fall-flat-electric-opening

Basically:

"The game was the biggest sporting event that's up there ever is, so it's okay that LeBron played horribly and the Cavs looked completely disjointed."

I mean seriously, that is sad, pathetic "journalism". And it goes on and on...

After all the hype, from LeBron himself and the media, this is not what should have happened. That's why this is a terrible beginning. LeBron will more than likely play much better, but this team is not ready yet. Not even close.

so you're saying nothing. nobody claimed they would be ready from jump. its patently obvious to those who actually watch bball it would take some time adjusting.
