View Full Version : How much is Jimmy Butler worth?

After a few deals recently, mostly the Burks 4/42 up to 45 mil, extensions have been pricey.

When Butler goes to restricted FA I think he gets 4/48 at the minimum.

Thoughts?????

8-10M a year but NBA contracts are so overpayed now days that he will get 14 somewhere.

Well Ariza got 4yr/32 million and I think Ariza is the better player at this point in his career. Add in the "potential" and "lockdown" factors and Butler will get atleast 10-12. Parsons and Hayward got 15+ last year and you can make a case he's not that far off from both swingmen.

Pretty sure if he's healthy all year long, ups his 3 point shooting %, and maintains the defensive intensity, he'll definitely get something like $48M/4 years. Can't see him getting up to $14M/year unless he signs for fewer years.

Bulls won't pay him. Notoriously cheap franchise. Melo knows~

We should follow the Knicks lead and overpay players who lead them to giving up valuable draft picks to offload their mistakes.

When was the last time Knicks won a Championship? :oldlol:

From what I've seen of Jimmy lately, I see him approaching the 16-18 points a game player and an even more devastating defensive player than before.

Kid deserves 11 million a year minimum if he keeps this kind of play up.

Bulls should of probably paid the 10 or 11 mill a year now, some idiot GM will pay him 14 a year based on age and potential alone.

I think he played with a "pay me" attitude tonight, if that makes sense. Looked really motivated and locked-in. He definitely is a huge piece for this team going forward and I don't think they can really replace him if he were to walk. He's gonna play with a chip on his shoulder all year imo.

Do you think that he'll get enough opportunities to average 16-18 per game? Bulls have a deep bench and I wonder if Jimmy will get enough shot to score that much.

What was the Bulls final offer? $10.5M/year? They should have upped the offer if that's true since it'll cost them more next summer to bring him back, I bet. Idk the actual numbers, but I'm sure they could have agreed on like $48-50M/4 years with decreasing annual payments. That would have been a pretty fair deal imo.

Laugh all you want - your time is up soon. Knicks improving; Bulls imploding.

Curious to see how many are left standing at the end of the regular season. I understand Rose is hobbled already -

He will get the opportunities as the year goes on, Gasol will get rested more which means more shots for Jimmy.

It's more his killer attitude and agressiveness which will up his average. The last 2 games he's played hes a totally improved player. I know it was a preseason game, but that 20 point last quarter looked like it ignited something in him.

Who knows, but I want him to stay a bull so badly. It's more than just the stats, his defense keeps teams so unsettled and his attitude is good. Doesn't take a backward step to anyone, gives the bulls toughness.

Anyone here agree that Rose/Butler could be the most dominating backcourt combo this year?

Jimmy Butler getting 12 million a year.

I can see it happening, but that's how sad these contracts are getting worth.

The Hawks could offer 4 years, 44 million.
We need a small forward badly, and will have a lot of cap space next year.
He's better than Carroll.
If the Bulls don't want to pay, then he can find a spot somewhere else for the money he wants.

Honestly, they may let Butler go.
They drafted McDermott and may want to give him a lot of minutes.

jimmy butler isn't in the trevor ariza conversation, he's in the paul george conversation. along with kawai leonard, chandler parsons, i might even throw lance stephenson into the conversation. a few others i'm sure. the difference right now between those guys is just development... leonard and george have hit their strides, stephenson and parsons and butler are on the verge of breakout years. i'm expecting this season to be big for all three of those guys.

he's worth more than most people in this thread think. 11m sounds about right though i might go 12 if he commits enough years.

If Jimmy can maintain this improvement we've been seeing since pre-season, I say give the man his payday. I absolutely love watching this new and improved version of Jimmy Butler. This is a very young talent on the verge of being an All-Star, the Bulls will pay him. He pretty much embodies everything the Bulls organization values in their players. Humble, hardworking, and absolutely tenacious on the defensive end.

SwishSquared pretty much put it perfectly in this thread. Going to quote it out of respect for a great post.

You made valid points. I don't understand tho why most fans were too focussed on his offensive skills/worth/potential.
The guy's main strength is his defense imo, and he would have made a huge difference vs the Cavs 2 nights ago, instead of Snell foolishly hounding Lebron from the backcourt resulting in a breakaway layup.
But yes, nailing those open perimeter shots is critical.
No way he gets a max deal bec he still is not a dependable shooter PLUS he's been missing games. I say 12.5 mil/yr, if they want a million more, get a team option on his final year. If they say no, I think they have a fair shot in getting Deng next summer bec I strongly believe Miami has seen Wade's final competetive yr this year.

Butler's biggest obstacle is injuries. I think he should have an incentive based contract.

Given his young age and for the most part, complete game. Somebody is probably stupid enough to give him a max deal. 14 first year and almost up to 20 million the last year of his contract :lol
