Neither Republicans nor Democrats care about blacks. Both are starting to care about Latinos and Hispanics though... because they realize the political power that this demographic has, especially in the Southwest.

Didn't Ben Stein work for Reagan or Nixon in some capacity? He was a Jewish Republican back before any measure of Jews sided with the Republican party.

It's true. Dude is a massive race card player. The whole "trayon would've been my son" thing for one example.

I agree.

Pray tell how, from an unbiased perspective, Barack Obama is "more racist" than the likes of Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, Andrew Johnson, Millard Fillmore, et al.

You have your work cut out for you.

Ben Stein is a partisan hack. He worked for Nixon and Reagan, both strong advocates of the "Southern Strategy", a move to appeal to disgruntled bigots in the South (and nationwide) at the expense of black voters. Their pitbull Lee Atwater even admitted the GOP used code words for blacks to rile up their voting base.

Yeah, Obama is the most racist president. Keep projecting, dickhead Republicans.

'most racist' is subjective .. but you can't deny he's been quite racially divisive .. whether intentional or not

12 presidents actually owned slaves. But Stein does not consider them more racist.

That's a little ahistorical now. You could own slaves and not be a racist, and slaveholders were born into their position (usually) just as slaves were born into theirs. Neither had much power to change their own position (as in, freeing ones slave was far more an economic problem of not being able to replace the labour and thus to losing your property, leaving public service etc. than one of racism - and it's not like white slavery didn't exist, it's just generally airbrushed out of American history books). Remember, this was a precarious time, when unpaid debts could land you in prison (as happened to two of the founders). Freeing ones slaves was taking a huge personal risk, and one that could end up with the former slave in a worse position as a free man (as often happened). A former slave who could pass for white (like the children of Sally Hemmings) would likely be fine, but the reality of the time was that the American citizenry was not very amenable to the mass-influx of freed blacks. For this same reason the life expectancy for black men in the north was worse than for the slaves in the south. They may have been 'free' but they most certainly were not accepted into society; rather hopelessly lost somewhere in-between, in fact.

Before the modern abolition movement slavery had little to do with race and was a worldwide practice (one that persisted for thousands of years), and simply accepted as part of the natural order. Franklin owned slaves and he most certainly was not a racist. But yeah, this article is still idiotic: there were plenty of more racist Presidents like Andrew Jackson, who was a racist, crude, violent, and demagogic asshole, who effectively nullified the US Constitution and its inherent restraints intended to restrain leaders of the masses like Jackson.

He was a speechwriter for Nixon and Ford. His dad was chairman of the Council for Econmic Advisors for Nixon and Ford.

His quote is hiliarious if you're familiar with what Nixon said on the tapes.
