A) A coward
B) A ringchaser
C) A Top 15 player of all-time
D) A quitter
E) A player who dominated solely for his physical gifts/natural talent. He was one of the least skilled players ever, made his teammates worse, colluded but all in all he should finish top 25 still.
F) Other (state your opinion)

An all time great player who couldn't win the big games

He's similar to Peyton Manning without the statistical dominance

A potential top 10 all-time player that never quite put it all together. Had the potential to be a hybrid of Magic/Jordan but lacked the mentality. Only 2 rings. Didn't deliver his city a championship like he promised. Couldn't win without Bosh & Wade.

He'll most likely be a top 5 player all time:

MJ
Kareem
Russel
Wilt
Lebron
Magic
Bird
Shaq
Duncan
Hakeem

And Durant at 11

I think he'll be really happy with his accomplishments.

2 rings and ahead of Hakeem? Please.

He might be. Both Hakeem and James have 2 F MVPS. Lebron does have the 4 MVPs which edge him just ahead in my opinion . They'll both be happy being ranked top 10 I think:applause:

Arguably the most versatile allround skilled player in NBA history on both ends floor who is a top 10 player (probably top 5 by the end of his career), a player who has hurt more butts than probably any player ever (OP is one of the victims).

He will go down as the greatest non-impact statpadder in the history of the game. He will be the biggest waste of talent of all time, and will always be remembered for becoming passive and scared facing adversity. He will be awarded the highest honor of betaness by the president and will have Beta as an actual official title before his name. He will keep chasing rings for the next 10 years on at least 5 different teams, all in the east. He will lose 3 more finals and his tombstone will some day read "2*/8".

He'll be remembered for his accomplishments. The other details will be forgotten except for those that actually saw him play. People will wonder why wasn't this guy the GOAT and discover that he was a ring chaser, the superstar that couldn't take over, colluded with others, his legacy was carried by others more than by himself, the most insecure star ever, he made his teammates worse, and all of that other beta stuff.

Unless he wins at least 4-5 rings, he's not cracking the top 6( in no order):

MJ
Kareem
Wilt
Russell
Magic
Bird

In terms of how history will remember him, he's not going to be part of that group.

LOL at this nonsense. These trolls, morons, simpletons and other forms of Internet scum fail to grasp something very simple - Lebron will go down as a top 5 player of all time by most of the basketball watching public. Period, point blank.

And I don't even have a dog in the fight of whether he does or doesn't, but that's just the way it is. And I'm rapidly starting to hate Lebron groupies as much as Kobe stans, but the truth is the truth.

When someone brings him up, I immediately chuckle in my mind because this video comes to mind:

that series defined his entire career.

For me, it's:

1) The playoff game against pistons when he just went off. It was either game 6 or 7 when he just totally dominated against Billups, Sheed and Big Ben.

2) The Decision to play with prime Wade and Bosh.

3) The decision to play with prime Irving and Love when Wade and Bosh's primes passed.

4) Passing up shots and not being aggressive at time.

at worst, even if he doesn't win another one, he's already in the top 10.

can he still turn around and be candidate for GOAT?? i don't think so. that's pretty much out of the question. you can't compete for goat if you ever go MIA in the finals. that's the f--king standard of perfection set by the bald guy. you CANNOT ever go MIA in ANY finals. Only A++++ games or you ain't GOAT. no excuses.

but right now, top 5 is still debatable, i think. one side might argue that he is kinda there for all the achievements he's made, and the other side might argue that he ain't even there for all the f--k ups he's shown.

but i think top 5 security is what he's playing for now. which ain't bad because he's already firmly secured in top 10.

so 20 years from now, he's still gonna be remembered as a legend cuz if you're top 10, you're already a legend in the game.

only question is if he's top 10 or top 5-ish, or maybe 4-ish if he goes insanely crazy in the last part of his career...

but no GOAT. that discussion is over.

I think it depends upon who is doing the remembering, as well as how James' career wraps up.

From my end, he's the second greatest basketball player I've been able to watch live (the other being Michael Jordan). So on the surface, I believe the general memory will be, "LeBron James was one of the greatest players of all-time."

My hope is, in 20 years, the flat "how many rings he got?" logic is finally collectively accepted to be but a part of evaluating one's ability as opposed to being a primary basis of individual evaluation within a team game.

Assuming no more MVPs, or Rings? Not as fondly as you'd think. Silver's crack down on PEDs following Stern's tenure is the beginning of his down fall. But obviously he's still a top ten caliber player.

I think it never will my friend.... how else will people now try to rank a LESSER individual player over a BETTER individual player? :P

Why would he need to win 4-5 titles to match Wilt if Wilt never won 4-5?:biggums:

Because Wilt is the most statistically dominant force in NBA history?

As I said, * perception-wise* in terms of how history will view him, he's not going to be part of the group I mentioned.
