36 year old, 19th season Kobe with bench players and borderline d-leaguers, 0-5.
Prime LeBron with two all stars, an all-nba player, All star MVP, and FIBA MVP, playing in the East, 1-3.

Supporting cast is irrelevant. This stat is literally comparing him to his cast. So if his cast sucks it means he's even worse. And once again, this thread is about Kobe. Not LeBron.

Yet he's somehow making these "D-leaguers" WORSE. What does that say about him?

I've never seen such a negative defensive impact from one player. It's unreal. With him on the court, there's a marginal difference in their offense. With him off the court, they're a great defensive squad but when he's in... they're the worst defense of all time

When Lebron is off the court, the Cavs play like the best defense in the league. Damn. Holding them back.

Jeremy Lin has the same net =/- this year at -81. Carlos Boozer is a few points behind that at -69. Wes Johnson is at -50.
5 of the worst 7 +/- scores are Lakers.

Surprising? Yes, a bit. But all I'm seeing here is guys arguing about who should win the gold medal at the special olympics.
Both guys have always been grossly overrated defenders (Bean was a solid shut down defender during the 3-peat era I'll admit). But they've taken terrible defense to never before seen lows.

Tbf 2008-2010 Lebron was better defensively that any version of Kobe. Most of sensible Laker supporting friends openly admit that and accept it. There's not much of a discussion there. James was arguably the second next defender on the planet behind Dwight.
