View Full Version : Report: LeBron And Kyrie Irving Exchanged Words After Loss

[QUOTE] According to Windhorst, the discussion consisted of James expressing concerns over how much Irving has been dominating the ball in the season's early going. Afterwards, Irving apparently left the locker room quickly and did not speak to the media.
This kind of talk happens in NBA locker rooms all the time and James has explicitly talked about taking on a role as a sort of unofficial coach as he moves toward the elder statesman phase of his career, so there isn't much to be made of the exchange itself. It might make you raise an eyebrow at Irving's performance in last night's loss to Utah, though.
In 45 minutes, Irving scored 34 points but didn't dish a single assist. The entire team totaled only six assists. That's not a very good way to play basketball, and it's a little worrying that it happened just a day after LeBron

Before the season didnt Lebron say Kyrie was going to be the primary ball handler?

Oh and I believe the reported exchange transpired after the Portland loss, not Utah...

Before the season didnt Lebron say Kyrie was going to be the primary ball handler?
I don't think it's necessarily a problem of Kyrie being the dominant ball handler as much as it is him not getting his teammates involved.

Kyrie isn't listening to a word Lebron has to say, he's too damn alpha.

Again, who cares.
Newsflash! The Cavs aren't going anywhere. Even the Cavs themselves know they aren't going anywhere. The Cavs, won 33 games last year, and per ISH did little to improve overall.
Going into this season anybody with any basketball sense would have a hard time seeing how they get out of the second round.
The Cavs will not beat the Heat or the Bulls in a 7 game series, and I have a hard time seeing them getting past Washington, Raptors, and even the Bobcats in a 7 game series.
For the love of God, Irving was asking Miller "is this what a playoffs atmosphere is like?"

So is the Magic's bad start. Yet there are not 15 threads about the Magic's slow start on the first page.
This could have been rolled into one of the other countless Cavs threads.

Kyrie is from the AI mold, zero fvck given bout winning. He should be embarrased. If he didn't understand his role would be another than last year he should be told. With a sledgehammer.

Yes but to clock zero assists as the PG on a team with James and Love? Come on.

The Magic don't have the high expectations the Cavs do. :hammerhead:

Had you retorted with an example of something even remotely chat worthy I might have considered hitting the delete button on this thread but Elfrid Payton's haircut is more relevant than Orlando's play on the court right now...

LeBron:
"You’ve got to go through something to create a bond; that means for the worse,” James said. “We’ve got to lose ballgames that we think we should’ve won, we’ve got to get into an argument every now and then just to test each other out."

funny thing is lebron leads the team in usage so it's not like Kyrie is hoarding the ball more than anyone else on the team

Nope, you're still wrong... Kyrie actually is hoarding the ball more than anyone else.
Usage doesn't determine that.

He also types all his Lebron stories with one hand, since the other one is busy.

I bet at any given time or place, Lebron can turn around and see Windhorse waddling around behind him back in the distance breathing heavy with a pair of binoculars in 1 hand and a sandwich in the other, trying his best to keep up for the latest scoop. (And not just the ice cream variety.)

Translation: Give me the rock, Kyrie. Didn't you get the memo? On my teams, we play LeBron-ball.
It certainly is rich, hearing LeBron complain about ball domination. Pot and kettle much?
I knew he would never sniff the FG% numbers he had during the big-three era again (to be fair, neither will Wade). That was purely a product of being the designated finisher on a team that already created a ton of easy scoring opportunities.
Good for Kyrie. Stand up to the teammate stat-draining and rep-killing bully.

Alphas never listen(respect) to betas like bran unless youre a beta too like love/bosh or a desperate injury prone alpha whos at the tail end of his career(wade).
Kyrie is from the AI mold, zero fvck given bout winning. He should be embarrased. If he didn't understand his role would be another than last year he should be told. With a sledgehammer.
AI doesn't care about winning?:biggums:
Have you ever watched him play? The guy gave 110% EVERY NIGHT, played through numerous injuries.....
And anyway, I don't know why anyone is surprised that Kyrie doesn't want to defer to Lebron. Kyrie is entering his prime, is a master ball-handler and a very good scorer. This isn't like Lebron going to play with Wade who 1. is his friend, and 2. is on the downside of his career...Much easier for Wade to defer than Kyrie, plus Wade is not the PG....
Kyrie probably should go to another team honestly...I don't necessarily blame him...Wanting to win is one thing but when you're a player as talented as Kyrie, its hard to cut off half your game and relegate yourself to basically a spot up shooter.....

Sooo Kyrie needs to play the same like his first 3 years(miss the playoffs) and stand up against a 2 time champ who had a lot of success playing lebron ball?

Lebron is right.
Kyrie needs to adjust his game to execute winning basketball.
Lebron has proven himself, Kyrie needs an ego check and start playing more off the ball to suit team needs.
If he can't do that, this shit is going to snowball into team chaos and the media will have a field day.

Indeed. This thing will never work if Kyrie doesn't quell the iso hungry, point-scorer shtick.

You can hate LeBron all you want, but he is right in this case.all kyrie cares about is getting his own. He doesn't care about team ball at all
