ever since shaq hopped on that show its sucked. I used to find it so funny. He just makes everyone tense and brings up his accolades or how he is better than everyone any chance he can get.

Also what happened to that fat ****, teaching DMC this year/being involved with the kings.

He's always behaved like a little spoilt child, but people ignored it because he was a monster when it came to bball.

Shaq doesn't belong to the show. Since he joined, it just got worse.

He's like an old lion too proud to lay low now that his best days are behind him so he constantly has to remember everybody how great he was on the court and he thinks he is right all the time because he was better than everyone else in basketball.
Pretty pathetic.

I never liked Shaq. And I only started to appreciate Kobe once he chased Shaq off the team :pimp:

Please give a real recap, I don't know what you guys mean when you say Barkley was going at him. What was he saying? I already know Shaq is not a good fit on that show because of his mumbling voice. Someone have a link?

Shaq ruins the chemistry. He wrecks every conversation.

Shaq IS likable.

He's been one of the most likable players in history. But he also has a spoiled brat side that comes out.

People like Shaq because he's a big kid.

People dislike Shaq because he's a big kid.

Shaq, for top ten GOAT status, simply can't articulate the x's and o's of the games very well. It's interesting seeing marginally talented players like Tim Legler or Kerr breaking down the game better than Shaq. Magic also has some crinch-worthy commentary, the only difference is he doesn't rub his rings into everyone's face like Shaq does.

And he's legit. I was watching him on that show... Open Court? Where they have everyone discuss shit. And he was talking about how dudes said as soon as he won a ring, "Could he win another?" And he was like I remember it, I'm sensitive...!

I don't have an issue with Shaq. He can be childish, sure. He's still my favorite player OF ALL TIME. FPOAT. I sometimes am like Oh U when he says some stupid shit, but some people seem like they watch the show just like **** SHAQ... or just waiting for him to say something and be like DAMMIT SHAQ.

I think Shaq n Chuck definitely have some ego issues, but I don't think it's bad. I think, as said, they are meant to do that. Chuck doesn't care, Shaq doesn't care...

If you think about it, it's rare to have something with two big personalities. A lot of the time Shaq says something to Chuck and it's like o shit, or the other way around. They each clown on the other for being fat, etc. It's not like one person has control of the way things go, it's totally up for grabs. That makes it an interesting social dynamic.

Ernie is the man too. I think the panel holds Shaq accountable. They even ignore him sometimes, but he's just doing what he does... be Shaq. Sometimes it works, other times he gets ignored or insulted.

Also, Shaq and Chuck are rare in that they can laugh or take it when people insult them. Shaq is pretending when he gets 'upset.'

The show has gone STRAIGHT down hill since Shaq went on. Shaq has gotten a little better but has no business being on that show.

I cannot believe he is still on; must have a long term deal or something. He is SOOooo bad. Chuck is funny, Kenny is great and Ernie does a great job of keeping it all together. Bring in a guest to tell stories for a segment and keep it to those three otherwise. Shaq completely talks over Kenny and Ernie and just devours the conversation.

I stopped watching.

They definitely gave him a big deal. All the networks were lining up to offer him big money and a lot of years when he retired.

Can't wait til he's gone though, he offers absolutely nothing to the commentary and hurts the desk's chemistry.

Let him go be a poor man's Chuck at ESPN, he'd actually do better there since their bball coverage is so awful.

Shaq has an annoying personality. His interactions with others are neither witty nor insightful plus with bad timings and childish acts. It's the kind of replies you expect from an uneducated person.

But he's improved immensely from when he started. He went from godawful to just bad.

I can look past most of the complaints that many seem to have with him being a mainstay on the broadcast. The only gripe I have with Shaq are his annoying played out yells during some of the highlight calls. When he raises his voice over everyone only to repeat the same thing for 10 seconds can be a little much at times. Otherwise it's whatever to me...

Oh and I can't stand that stupid Yak Yak Yak or whatever it is he tries to spew out during the reel...

Not in a technical sense, but it still makes sense to the average viewer what he's saying. It doesn't help that Shaq has a low voice so he sounds like he's mumbling at times...on top of taking potshots at people and generally ruining the chemistry of the long-time trio. Barkley and Jet could rib on each other and have a laugh, but Shaq honestly seems to take some things personally...

He acts like a 5 year old.

He talks really low and mumbles and most of the time you don't what he's saying. He doesn't really say much anyways.

Then out of nowhere he blurts stuff out really loud, often when other people are talking, trying to be funny. And he repeats the same thing like 2-3 times while laughing at his own joke.

I mean, he's a funny guy. (Just ask him.) Just not the most articulate.

Maybe he can do some sort of sports show on Nickelodeon or the Disney Channel.

SCdac
11-07-2014, 02:38 PM
At least with Webber, you can tell you likes talking about the nuances of the game, the x's and o's, the little things only ball players know, etc. Can tell he wants to educate the public, more or less, when he's talking. With Shaq, it's just him stroking his ego or trying to sound authoritative. I like shaqting a fool as much as the next fan.. but let's be honest, compilations of basketball bloopers have been around for decades.

Chris Webber should definitely replace Shaq. He can take shit from the guys without getting all bent out of shape like Shaq does. He just seems like a more pleasant person to be around.

The show is fine and I like Shaq on the show...The show is definitely funnier with him on it...They crack jokes on each other, there's the Shaqtin a fool segment and the "who he play for" segment.

Shaq and Charles go at each other on some competitive BS but they are friends in real life...They have stated this many times...Shaq has a bigger ego than Charles and it does come out often on the show whether he's discussing another player in the league or himself...He does always take the chance to remind everyone of how dominant he was but he also gives players credit also. He just doesn't express himself as well as the others but I think he does fine on the show.

Hell Shaq and Charles both star in little skits, fake movies, fake sitcoms and everything else they do on the show....
