One criteria you might want to use that EVERYONE uses would be wins. I would think the undefeated teams would be represented by someone and the completely defeated teams would be unrepresented. Just my 2 cents.

Making the playoffs in the east is not a tough task. Brooklyn last year suckered all the way up until January and still managed to get a 6 seed.
