"Just get a damn win,"
Having four days off between games has given the Los Angeles Lakers a badly needed chance to regroup and prepare themselves to end the franchise's worst start in 57 years.
The Lakers again try for their first victory Sunday night against the visiting Charlotte Hornets.
Kobe Bryant was obviously frustrated Tuesday after scoring 39 points in a 112-106 home loss to Phoenix, but he also tried sending a message of hope to his teammates.
"Just get a damn win," he said. "You can't listen to what everybody says. You can't listen to people. You've got to be stubborn as a mule. You've got to keep chipping away. Got to keep competing and going after it, and this thing will turn around.
"Just as easily as we lost five in a row, we can turn around and win five in a row."
Off to their worst start since the 1957-58 Minneapolis-based team dropped its first seven, the Lakers (0-5) likely don't have the talent to be much better than last season's 27-55 group, but publicly remain optimistic.
"You focus on the process," said Bryant, who is shooting 40.2 percent, but has averaged 29.8 points in four games since opening with 19 against Houston.
