Anyone ever been to Asheville, NC?

Driving up to Ohio from Florida in late December before Christmas, and going off the main route to see Asheville. What are the "must see" places there? Wouldn't mind finding a good hiking spot during the day, and some nightlife in the evening. Just staying for a day.

I've heard nothing but great things about Asheville, which is why I wanted to make the stop.
