I haven't watched any of their games, is he getting exposed?

He always reminded of a better version of JR Smith and damn do I hate JR on the Knicks.

5 game samples are an excellent way of guaging a player's scoring ability.

For example, lebron in the 2011 finals shows how terrible of an offensive player he really is.

18 on 48% isnt terrible. It's above average, just not Lebron level.

8 points on 32%. I dont care how many games its been. Dudes highest ppg was 14 last year. He cant score. :facepalm

More to do with team chemistry building than his scoring ability. Could be wrong, but lance has shown offensive ability before this.

I wouldn't judge his performances til half way through the year when he gels with new teammates.

He will certainly improve. No way he stays at 8 and 32%, but he will still be a poor scorer.

Im more impressed with his rebound numbers too be honest
... his impact on the court goes beyond his scoring numbers imo tho

Was he ever touted as a great scorer?

I always looked at him as a utility player, a glue-guy. I think starting him with MKG, another utility-type player, may be an issue. They're great defensively, but it puts a lot of pressure on Big Al and Kemba to score a lot.

The only similarities between Lance and Smith is that they both have arguments being headcases. The way they play basketball is totally different.

Hes JR Smith w/ playmaking and better rebounding
both streaky scorers and shooters but well rounded there and both underrated and capable defenders specially man to man

he should bump it up as the year goes on. I doubt he'll average over 20 though as he's good at looking to get others involved.

He averaged 14 ppg on 56 TS% last season.

Not great, but definitely not terrible.

Rockets were middle of the road until March last year when they started winning 4 and 5 in a row. Pretty sure at one point then won like 16 of 20ish.

It takes time to gel. It took Dwight that long to gel with his teammates, imagine how long it'll take Lance.

But he will eventually. Or he wont. 5 games is nothing.

i think its the opposite.

having to take a backseat to big al, and slow it down and post up, rather than just running, hurts lance's game.

he needs to adjust to playing off of jefferson and kemba.

lance knows how to cut off the ball, and jefferson seems like a more unselfish passer as of late, so they should be able to figure it out, and get lance more easy looks.

The comparisons to JR Smith? Yes, both are dumb. Yes, both have handle, can chuck, and have terrible shot selection. Both are nut balls that have antagonized the best player in the world JR on Kobe in 2008, and Lance on LeBron in 2014. But the biggest difference? Lance is a bull physically, and is actually a really good man defender.

Lance is natural born hustler and you cant teach effort, Lance is significantly better several components of the game including def, reb, passing, chasing balls nothing like that delusional pothead JR.

Not much separates him and Deshawn Stevenson. Both incredibly talented, but mental focus keeps them from achieving their talent.

Lance also has much better shot selection than JR....He doesn't just launch bad shots like JR does....Lance is more likely to pass it or try to get to the rim if he doesn't have a good shot.......In other words, his on court play is less likely to have teammates pissed off at him...Now I can't say the same for antics....

A joke ? Get real.

Stephenson hasn't shown he's head and shoulders over Smith and I don't even like either player. Both are average at best players from what they have both shown.

he is averaging 10 rpg and 5 apg.

he is not going to shoot sub-40% on the season. if he gets around 45% FG, then his numbers look more like 14 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 5 apg. those are borderline all-star numbers.

It wasn't like he was some great scorer last season either. Just watching him, he's an average NBA guy. Don't know why people thought he would make a huge difference.

You're the one bringing up triple doubles. Unless there was something that special about those triple doubles, it doesn't explain why Smith and Stephenson are who they are: average players at best.
