This is exactly what made the play so good - it deceived you after watching it from different angles. Look at Rose's eyes... when he put his head down, his mind was already made up. He had to negotiate getting the defense to over commit to Gasol a bit, that was the spontaneous part. The clip is even better once you see all the mechanics going on.
