his fg% takes a dip. but he makes up for it by hitting a good enough 3pt percentage to equal over 50% output

plus he gets to the line more often per shot attempt. which is why kobes points per shot is nearly identical to jordans

Yeah... except one guy is the all time leader in PPG while shooting 50% for his career, the other is 11th while shooting 45% for his career (currently sitting on 39%).

If you consider that 'the same output' then I don't know what else to tell you.
