vs. Havlicek 16 seasons

1270 games by Hav
1251 games by Kobe

Hav looked to have never gotten seriously injured in his many seasons playing, his last 11 seasons with 80+ games played

back in Havlicek's time teams probably averaged under 40% FG. Bunch of short dudes throwing up all types of low percentage hooks and weird ass shots. Only one that really mastered it was Kareem

Since April 9th, 1978, Havlicek has held this record. That's over 36 years. Some thought that this record was unbreakable. They assumed that with the evolution of the game and all the lessons of the past as a guide, no player could achieve such inefficiency over an entire career. But Kobe dared to dream big and he has broken through that barrier and in less games than it took Havlicek too. Suck on that, Hondo!

Read his comments and tell me he`s not paying attention or caring about the "record". :lol

Asked about the record, Bryant, who scored a game-high 28 points on 10-of-26 shooting and finished with 13,421 misses for his career, smiled and said he wasn't aware of it.

"Nah, I don't follow that stuff, man," he said.

How does he explain setting the mark?

"Well, I'm a shooting guard that's played 19 years," he said, shrugging and smiling. He later added, "Like I said, 'shooting' guard, 19th year."

Bryant, in his 19th NBA season, entered the game 13 missed field goals shy of the record. The 36-year-old guard now stands ahead of Havlicek, Elvin Hayes (13,296), Karl Malone (12,682), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (12,470) and Michael Jordan (12,345).

"I don't care about it, to be honest with you," Bryant said. "It is what it is. I remember when I was a kid and I watched Michael shoot 49 times in an NBA Finals game. Can you imagine if I did that and lost? Puts things in perspective."

Jordan took alot of shots, but the difference there is that Jordan was efficient, hence it all always translated to a better outcome in form of for example team success............... Kobe is just simply taking alot of shots regardless of the outcome...... even at this point in his career he refuses to calm down, he is on his way to 37 and taking 24 FGA (more than anybody in the league) @ 39% FG....... the guy is nuts :P

Kobe is the only player in the NBA who shoots bail outs at the end of the clock. :sleeping

Before last night's game, Kobe already had the record of the most missed shots in playoffs history, and regular season & playoffs combined/overall.

But as of last night, 11.11.2014, Kobe holds the record for most regular season missed shots of all-time. Kobe stands at a proud 13.420+ Bricks.

This one will be there for the ages, unbreakable record. #KobeSystem. The master brick layer. Kobe bulding a house of bricks for the poor.

#GenerousBe #LiberalBe #soft-touchedBe

The new Top 5:

1. Kobe Bryant: 13.421
2. John Havlicek: 13.417
3. Elvin Hayes: 13.296
4. Karl Malone: 12.682
5. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 12.470

To the facts:

All-Time Field Goals Made :

1. Kareem = 15.837
2. K. Malone = 13.528
3. Chamberlain = 12.681
4. Jordan = 12.192
5. Shaq = 11.330

Kobe has missed 2,300 more Shots than he's made.
Only Havlicek compares in inefficiency from the guys above.

If Havlicek would have been an efficient scorer, his name would likely get dropped in top 10-15 all-time rankings routinely. It was his only flaw.

Chicago Bulls MJ MADE 238 more shots than he MISSED... Scoring at an ATG Volume + Efficiency clip.

Back to the guy that made history last night.

****ing destroyed. LOL...

ive been telling kobe fanatics that this was a MYTH, but all i kept hearing was "watch the games hurr hurr" (despite me watching the laker franchise for 20+ seasons).

had no clue they had stats for this. good stuff OP :applause:

I also slayed the Kobe stans attempt to reason why Lebron wasn't a better 3pt shooter than Kobe by placing the blame on Kobe having to shoot more 3pt heaves/Lebron not shooting to protect his Fg% when infact lebron had more of those shots basically year after year in his first stint as a cav.:pimp:

Glad my boy Kobe is still on everyones mind, good or bad. The greater you are the greater the hate. Samething happens with LeBron aswell, so at the end of the day, Kobe nor LeBron fans should get upset that ppl are out there spending their whole mornings/days/weeks/ and even years trying to gather any evidence to bash greatness.:applause:

We will see the same the day he passes MJ in total points.

No you won't. A few Kobe fans will congregate in a thread and be happy.

Literally 15 LeBron stan alts are spamming the forum with thread after thread about Kobe today and yesterday. Look at the first four pages. And this is AFTER all the thread deletions by the mods.

You're all obsessed.

Wouldnt winning the lottery or having a orgy wit 4 badass Spanish chicks be more beautiful than a thread dissing Kobe that at the end of the day won't change the worlds opinion on Kobe? You must not have anything going for you in ur life. The most exciting part of your day must be your trip to Wal-Mart to replace your empty bottle of d!ck beating lotion.

why dont you use totals? using % just shows how lebron cherry picks and differs most of the time during crunch time, you dont get to be 2/5 and be clutch at the same time

Do you even math, bro? We're discussing why his fg% is low thus it makes sense to look at the proportion of the shot attempts as opposed to the total.

And you can clearly tell that the totals would be similar as well.

Guaranteed there won't anywhere near as much threads/discussion when he becomes the first player in history to hit 30 K pts/6 K asts/6 K rbs, or when he passes MJ for 3rd all-time in scoring.

How furious are the Kobe haters though? They know damn well nobody is going to give a crap about this. It's certainly not changing his status as a top 10-12 player EVER and the second best shooting guard of all-time. In fact, nothing he does from now on will hurt him. Dude's legacy is secure.

These morons must be so mad at that fact. :oldlol:

Spamming the board. Not sure why the other spammers in the "Lebron family" haven't been banned yet. It seems like anybody with a Henry Abott avatar is immune to being banned for some reason. Not to mention the so called "Lebron family" consists of 2 or 3 people using a shitload of accounts.

 Not this argument again....

- MJ also played in a much different defensive era....especially early in his career

- For some perspective, here are the league averages for all the years MJ shot over 50%.

88' - 48%
89' - 47.7%
90' - 47.6%
91' - 47.4%
92' - 47.2%

And here are the league averages in the post-MJ era.

00' - 44.9%
01' - 44.3%
02' - 44.5%
03' - 44.2%
04' - 43.9%
05' - 44.7%
06' - 45.4%
07' - 45.8%
08' - 45.7%
09' - 45.9%
10' - 46.1%

- and if you look at the game as whole....from an intelligent point of view....you would see....defensive strategies have changed alot from the 80's early 90's

Kobe and MJ's TS% are very similar..

Kobe at 55 TS%
MJ at 56TS%

- I seriously doubt you even watched MJ play basketball....was he slightly /marginal better shooter?...yes because he played half his career in one of the weakest defensive era's ever.....and MJ was amazing at attacking the Rim and finishing....

- Kobe is a much better shooter from 20' extended...and plays in an era where perimeter players shoot more 3's in 1 season they Larry or MJ shot their entire careers......even MJ will tell you that.

- We can't even believe anything you say anymore ( except the workings of nature)....you use Bias and stannism to make claims ......yet..

YOU NEVER DELIVER!!!!......how do you even show yer face around here?

making Croatia look soft as hell...and making bron Stans look like "2011 4th quarters all over again".

sad really

Yup, that's called spamming. The mods explicitly said you will be banned if you keep making the same thread after it was locked. It's seriously like the only way you can get banned from ISH.

But Nash is a fellow Bran dick rider and Kobe detractor, so of course he's gonna act like Arbitrary didn't deserve it.

I have no idea what lead to him being banned, but if its true he made the same thread multiple times then sure.

But what was wrong with the thread? It was about Kobe averaging most missed shots in a minute or something like that. Surely we see shittier threads kept alive by mods all the time on ish.

Uh congrats to Bean for being the new Karl Malone (lite, 39% shooting version). Only took him half a decade more... while taking less games/minutes to break a missed shots record that was set the year he was born.

All hail the chosen one, the Lord of the Brick.

Yeah the new Karl Malone with zero championships and FMVP spot on comparison.

Karl had the unfortunate luck to play twice in the finals against the GOAT otherwise he would've matched Bean in finals MVPs. He didn't have the luxury of winning rings while shooting 6 for 24 in a closeout game.

Hey Yo

"Kobe Bryant now holds the NBA record for most misses (13,421). He will still go down as one of the greatest ever, but he's chucking at record levels right now.

Granted, it's just seven games in, but he's missing more shots per minute than any player in NBA history (see chart below). Said another way, he has 20 more missed field goals than any of his teammates have attempted this season.
