I don't even think this nigggggga was listening during the timeout.

That play was clearly drawn up for melo to get the ball.. JR doesn't even look at Melo who has a rookie guarding him!!!? :biggums:

This guy chucks up a 30 foot three pointer that barely hits backboard.

I don't have the video yet but wait till you guys see this.. One of the most selfish things I've ever seen a player do.:coleman:

Knicks would still be the most underrated team in the league.

He is the dumbest player in the league. I wish I could meet him face to face one day, cause clearly he can't hear me heckling him from the rafters. I would ask him basic fundamental questions and laugh at his incompetence and stupidity. Then I'd smack the shit outta him.

You have to get the opposing team to agree to the trade.

When you get the ball w less than 3 seconds you know you have to shoot.

Not in the game without JR. There is a list of guys that need to go. Jr is not on that list.

Flatout, you're right.

But, the audacity of him to take this shit was so disrespectful to the star player. A good team can't have things like this happening. I can happily lose with melo missing.. I can't handle losing when it's Jr. Smith playing like he's at the rec

No way, smiths job was to pass the ball to melo who was posting up a rookie. marshmelo called for the ball right way and was pissed when he didn't get it.

For some strange reason, I always see NY dudes wanting this guy to remain on their team. I mean, he can get hot once in a while, but you don't win shit with a guy like this playing a meaningful role on your team.

WHICH NY dudes are you talking about? :kobe:

I have wanted him off the team since he cancerred the Knicks out of the playoffs in 2013. And that was him coming off his best season. I saw how non-committed he was to winning when he was clubbing it up during the playoffs while shooting 25%. He is as cancerous as it gets. Plenty of talent and ability, a peanut brain is his downfall.

Not here, but some guys in realgm advocate JR Smith as a legit 2nd option to Melo. :facepalm

I didn't see the game but this video starts with less than 3 seconds to go. Is that when Jr Smith got the ball or did he have it longer than that? Because if he just got it, he kinda had to shoot it....Did he have time to get Melo the ball?

Yeah as soon as he caught the inbounds ball he could have passed it to melo with like 3 seconds left. Instead he just looks at the shot clock and tries to be a hero

I never liked his game. I don't know why the Knicks had to f*ck up their team that was starting to win a few years ago. They had a good thing going and then they traded for Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks always go for the losers. Lebron was their only chance at becoming great. Hell, they could have drafted Curry right? Man. That franchise has the worst management.

Nope we sniped Curry from the knicks :D Knicks drafted Jordan Hill.

Some of the players they could have had: Derozan, Holliday, Jeff Teague, Darren Collison, Taj Gibson... eh that's about it. Pretty weak draft outside of Curry, Derozn, Harden, Tyreke, and Blake

Speaking only in regards to his shot last night - I can understand it. A few things:

1) There was only 3.5 seconds remaining.

2) Carmelo Anthony establishes at the extended high post, in close vicinity to Elfrid Payton, as Prigioni was still trying to clear out. Also being closely guarded by Aaron Gordon.

3) Smith catches about 40 feet away from the hoop, he has to decide whether he can complete a 20 foot pass without it getting picked by a lingering Payton and still allow the receiver to make a positive attempt at a game-tying shot.

4) Had the pass been completed, would Carmelo have been able to cook something up with what would have likely been 2.5 seconds or less left on the clock, with his back to the basket? Maybe, but I understand the hesitance from Smith.

5) I would have thought getting the ball to Carmelo on the initial inbound pass would have been ideal, but it seems that may have not been the plan, as Carmelo begins in front of the ball and sets a weak pick, not really springing to any kind of action.

These guys don't want to hear logic. If they did- you nailed it right here. The ball should have been inbounded to Carmelo with that spot he was in. Once it wasn't the possession played itself out. Worse would have been a turnover. Worse than that? Not getting a shot off.

IMO I think fisher designed the play with melo as decoy because he dragged the whole defense after him. The problem was that it had horrible spacing by the other 3 players and JR smith positioned himself too far out ... so it became a cluster****

There was time to get a better shot.

if JR wanted to shoot, it didn't have to be a 30 footer. There was time to get a better shot.I think there was time to get a different shot, but I don't know if it would have been a better one. Fournier did a pretty solid job - cut off right, recovered well enough and left space as Smith went back left. Within 3.5 seconds, I think Smith had to decide whether to take another second to try to step in (and toward Fournier) or pull when he had some breathing room.

The result was bad (an airball) and Smith certainly has a history of questionable on-court decisions, but I can completely empathize and understand his choice here.

The matter with which the play was run really left Smith little choice than to catch the inbound pass where he did. He flared past Anthony and was open, but Payton made such a pass difficult for Prigioni, who was only able to complete that pass once Smith had cleared the 35 foot mark.

From there, I think we could put ourselves in a player's shoes at that point. 3.5 seconds left, caught the ball near half-court, guarded by a defender bigger than you but giving a small amount of space... there could have been a better decision, but I understand the one that was made.
