Tony Parker is the exception because the Spurs play team basketball where he isn't he clear #1.

But players like Chris Paul, Steph Curry and Westbrook have yet to win one.

D Rose is injury prone.

and the other "top PG's" (Wall, Lillard) aren't close either.

It's not like Westbrook and Curry are 10 years into their careers. They have not even reached their primes. I think both are capable of winning rings.

Curry just became an elite player within the last couple years. His teams the past 2 years haven't been healthy.

Warriors have a legit shot this year

Shouts out to eminems balllsack he'll forever be the warriors biggest fan

It's a bigman's game, regardless of how many rules the NBA creates to promote perimeter players.

It's just sorta the way it is. You really don't require a superstar-stud PG to get it done in this league. History will show you this.

Chalmers/Cole
Billups (solid/clutch but not superstar status)
Kidd (far beyond his prime)
Fisher
Payton/J Will

The list goes on...

Because teams rarely win with a PG as the team's best player.

The last time it happened was, what, Isiah's Pistons? Maybe Billups in 04, even though it was really Wallace imo.

It's easiest to shut down a PG in the playoffs, due to their size. The smaller you are, the harder it is to score, hence why PGs usually have the lowest FG% out of all the positions. The greatest PG of all time is 6'9, size is the most important attribute in basketball.

Because a PG hasnt been the best(or second best) player in the league in a long time

It's a rarity in league history for the team that wins to have a PG as their best player. Tony Parker is the closest we've seen, but as previously mentioned he may have been the most productive player, and maybe even the best on his team, but not the most important.

PGs are ball dominant. Your offense gets too predictable/stagnant when you have one guy handling the rock for so long.

What do you mean "anymore"? Teams with pg's as their best players or even 2nd best have rarely won.

Tony Parker is one of the most ball-dominant players in the NBA though. Last year his time of possession was 21% of his playing time.

No offense to Tony. Great player, sacrificed money to play here.

But our offense was ran in-spite of him at times last year. Half the time the offense was stagnated, it was because Tony was pounding the rock indecisively.

It because they try to be the main man on a title winnung team and dont want to give up that spot to another player. Thats why we see all these hyped small scoring guards who fail in the playoffs and dont adapt to the situation. Tony Parker is one of the few who takes himself back for the better of the team and plays the decoy and only scores on his full abilty when good for the team because of a mismatch (e.g. finals vs Cavs 07).

Same reason Cp3 can't seem to advance despite having the best roster he's ever played with the last three years.

PGs are overrated.

Assists are an overrated stat what's more important is overall team assists.

Having high assists is also overrated because it means that one guy has the ball most of the time, making it predictable that you know he has a high chance of passing the ball.

Good pgs are good because they control the flow of the game and step up when needed...they show leadership on the court.

Also, PGs have minimal impact on defense. They are short and are much less valuable than big men on D.

I just think the PG is the most overrated position in the league.

Unless you have "PGs" like rose and westbrook who are just athletic anomalies that can destroy defenses at will..these guys actually play more like SGs almost.
