I'm either getting the Pro with Retina Display or Macbook Air. I'm a NOOB when it comes to specs. It's a foreign language to me. Please help ISH.

Both are 13 inch.

Specs for Pro:
-2.4 ghz (turbo boost to 2.9 ghz)
-4GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
-128GB Flash Storage1
-720p FaceTime HD camera
-Intel Iris Graphics

Specs for Air:
-1.4 ghz (turbo boost to 2.7 ghz)
-8GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 RAM

128GB PCIe-based flash storage
1
720p FaceTime HD Camera

Intel HD Graphics 5000

Both are similar price.

I'm leaning towards the Air because of it's portability. I'm always on the go.

Which is better and why??

Go play with them, the pro isn't some lumbering heavy weight and it's the better computer of the two... plus if you're on the go it's beefier, it'll take a shot if you get careless.

i don't know how sturdy the air is, they could be bullet proof for all i know but like any of those things they just feel too light weight for my needs

I had both and i went with the pro (retina). The extra 4gb of ram is nice, but i take the retina over non retina screen.

depends on your usage, I have the retina display and it's really fast and clear. The air will be abit slower because of lower ghz, but that fker LASTS for days.

Air resolution is shitty for the price. They're coming out with a retina air in the future.

When they come out with a retina air I'll consider.

OP What is the heaviest computing you do? Do you need a computer for scientific/mathematical computing, video editing/creation/rendering, play games with good graphics on the comp, or anything else real heavy duty?

Also I think the Air doesn't have a CD drive. Not sure about the 13" pro, it's something else to keep in mind.

If not, and you said you are on the go frequently, go with the Air.

My advice is to look for an equivalent specs Windows computer, similar size, shape, etc and compare the price. I had a Macbook, and when the time came to upgrade, a slightly more powerful VAIO cost 1,100 freaking dollars less then the MacBook Pro. And noob idiots ****ing love it.

Omg, and what about the time Apple was still selling their already 2 and half+ year old Core 2 Duos Mac Pros for the original over priced price that they were selling them when they were introduced. Utterly disgusting.

I would also suggest for you to give something like Linux a try, so that you can see how you personally handle a completely different operating system. If your brain is hardwired for Windows, it's not going to be fun and feel like a big loss of money.

Why not build a computer with better specs and just install mac osx on it?

Buy the cheapest Air if you only gonna use it for browsing, music, writing, video and stuff like that. It's still lightning fast for all that.

For 3d-apps, heavy coding, new games and stuff like that, buy the pro or rather a Windows PC.

Fixed. If you can't get the retina with at least those specs, get the Air.

128Gb nowadays is nothing.

Regarding GB space in computers...

I find myself using/needing less and less space tbh.

I stream most media, and store most stuff in the cloud. It's also always better to k
