Both 9-1, Memphis 5-0 at home and Houston 6-0 away. Two of the teams currently in better form. Should be a good game.

Wouldn't say the Rockets are in good form, only managing a one point win against the Sixers and then only putting up 69 against OKC.

Rockets are on an obvious shooting slump, they're coming off a hard fought game in OKC, missing one of their best players in T-Jones (thus have to play D-Mo *sigh*), and generally struggle against Memphis. I was expecting this, but I really didn't want it to look this bad.

All I know is that Memphis is legit.

We're struggling, but to be fair we're still missing TJones, who is important to our team becausw the only alternative is DMo and he's been sucking ass this season. Couple that with us just getting Bev back and we're playing against a healthy Grizzlies team that have been together for some years. Couple that witg our head coach. Still gonna make the playoffs. Houston is who we thought they were.. Come postseason they'll likely be one and done.
No way that's the real Houston basketball team. First of all, one of our best players, Terrence Jones is out, and he's going to be out for maybe a couple more weeks which is totally unfortunate. He's a wayy better player than our backup PF, Donatas Motiejunas aka D-Mo aka Dumbass MOther****er. D-Mo is just absolutely garbage and has a really hard time guarding top PFs. Jones isn't any better but he rebounds like a man and scores a decent amount of point every night. Those are two things D-Mo cannot do. Secondly, the Rockets have been on some kind of weird shooting slump these past few games. We can't make a 3 to save our life. Even open 3's aren't going down for us. You can't tell me this is how they usually shoot. For god's sake, we struggled shooting against the Philadelphia 76ers! That should tell you something. Once Houston gets it together and has all their players, they're going to get back on track.

Oh and Houston needs to find a legit backup center for Dwight. The current backup, Tarik Black, is a rookie who can't really play. He's also really undersized. I think if we sign a guy like maybe Jermaine O'Neal, it'll help solve some of our problems.

Get brewer and a backup big. We are lacking as swingman who can run and finish and shoot the damn ball off the bench.we are lacking a backup big with size really badly.we need some size and rebound at the 4 and 5. Black and Dorsey is just not upto it.

Black is a piece of shit player. Period. He tries to make up for his lack of size w/ energy and hustle plays but he's just not good enough. He can't catch, finish nor shoot. He's also undersized. "Energy" is literally the only thing this guy has to offer.

How far do you realistically see them going in the postseason though? I just haven't been impressed with any of their W's (with the exception of maybe the game versus Miami) as they have ALL come against teams that are either tweeners or injury depleted.

ronnymac
11-17-2014, 11:26 PM
5 game home stand now and time to practice again. McHale has to get these guys especially the bigs to start setting down screens to allow the shooters to get better looks and push the tempo better. We can't like tonight allow teams to get set in the half court because of our our lack of size on defense. We will get murderd.

Run and don't let them get established. I think Morey is going get active by December 15 to look for a backup big and some scoring power off the bench. The big prize would obviously a star Point because about side of James, who else can creat?. Tonight the Grizzlies just concentrated their defense on stoping James and it just put extra emphasis on getting another playmaker to pickup the load.we needed this reality to check to see what we are lacking and what we need.

No backup big, no playmaker outside of James, no offense off the bench and missing an 3rd option when games like tonight to pickup the slack when James and Dwight are shutdown. They are not wining anything. Luckly we have the Pelicans 1st, an 8.6 trade player exception and some young players to throw in as pieces plus two 2nd rounders we got from Sacramento.

A lot of teams could be interested in Terry and his 5 million expiring deal as well. Morey has plenty of option and cap space to get creative for roster upgrade.

7 of those 9 wins were against the Sixers (twice), KD/WB-less Thunder, Lakers, Celtics, Jazz, TWolves..and the only elite team you beat was San Antonio without Duncan, Ginobili, Belinelli, Mills, and Splitter.

Because it adds to my point that Black literally cannot offer his team anything except "energy"...which is basically useless come playoff time (or in statement games in the regular season) when both teams are hyped up and ready to go.

To compare Black and Asik is just :facepalm worthy. So I'm not even going to entertain that (your) side of the argument.

Koufos is arguable the best back up true center in the NBA. He started 81 games before the Grizzlies traded for him. Speights is a deadly midrange jump shooter, he's not much on defense or rebounding really but his jumper is insanely accurate for a guy that big. Black barely made this Rockets team. I've watched Black since his freshman year at Memphis and I never really thought he'd make the NBA because he can't shoot, doesn't have a good touch and doesn't do anything exceptionally well (unlike a Reggie Evan/Chuck Hayes type player). He has time to learn and get better but at this point he's pure "energy" with no real dominant skill other than being big and athletic. I watched all of his Tigers games and I used to play basketball with his brother in college. I've watched him for years now and like that he's getting a chance to play but he's a long way from the guys you mentioned right now. He's got what you want physically, just needs to get it together and learn to rebound or defend or something at a very high level until his offense comes along.

About the same stats that Kosta Koufos get in Memphis playing behind and All star center. Same as Marreese Speights as Bogut's back up and about the same as every other back up center in the NBA.

Are you really trying to argue losing Asik wasn't a big loss since you have Tarik Black?

Grizzles looking great so far. .knew they would be a top team. Marc missing 40 games is why they were 8th last year.

No answer, how many great back up center out there?

Ass-clown, is not about being great....it's about being serviceable. Do you understand the difference? No, you don't.

A back up big man should be able to: finish at the rim, rebound the ball, most importantly, height.

Black offers none of that and his incompetence shows. The guy is a rookie(?) who none of us thought would make the team about a month ago. I'll give him a pass on his defense because he's extremely young. But to act like Houston doesn't need a serviceable back up big is just lol. Stop it.

Take off your homer glasses, boy.
