Jordan. Or Shaq if it were late 90s. I don't have "favorites". I just objectively evaluate players. Whoever is the best is the best.

Actually, Translation: I don't have favorite players for any reasons other than playing ability. I just objectively evaluate them. LeBron for instance, is far and away the best player since prime Shaq. But between Shaq and LeBron we had Tim Duncan, another legend who was my "favorite player" at some point. And before prime Shaq the dominant force was MJ, before that Hakeem, before that MJ again, before that Magic, before him Bird, and so on...

Yes it seems that, as a fan of the sport of basketball, people who are actually the best at playing said sport tend to be my favorite players. This is obviously so much worse than rooting for a player for reasons completely unrelated to basketball.

So you dont pick your favorite movies or favorite bands based on which you think are best, but instead which one has a lead singer from your hometown, or a director who once sat next to your grandfather at the bar in a airport hotel???
Its ok to like a sport and the guys who play it best over a randomly selected hero that youre liking just bc he has cool hair or went to your high school. If you wanna root for guys based on that its fine but its also fine not to.

so you don't take special interest in movies that are filmed in your hometown? I made sure to see batman and blues brothers because they were filmed in chicago. its cool to like who you want to like and all, but hometown pride is a part of sports, thats why they wear the name of the city on their chest. apples and oranges, dude.
As for the question, my favorite players were obviously jordan and pippen, but besides them, Penny hardaway was my favorite. I even had an orlando magic windbreaker. black body with blue sleeves, i wore that thing like every day lol.

a 20\10\3 DPOY caliber Center in Zo, a 22 PPG scorer on any given night in Rice and a 19\8\2 PG who was considered one of the best PG's in the league at the time.
They would of been the BEST team in the East in the mid-late 90's.

shaq - who's game translates very well in ALL eras. top 6 on the scoring list, 4 titles, an mvp (robbed of at least 2), 3 fmvps - arguably the greatest finals performer ever - 15x allstar, scored 61 points and 23 rebounds one game (which is insane in the modern era).
what made shaq unique wasn't his size, but the quickness and speed in which he made his decisions. the quick spin move ("black tornado") when he caught the ball down low was completely devastating. defenses would all collapse but it didnt matter - shaq was a superb passer as well. what is MOST impressive about his offensive skills, were the way he used them. everytime he caught the ball close to the basket, it was over a defender. he is easily the MOST doubled and triple teamed player all time.
of course all of this was in his prime. there was, iirc a 6 game stretch when he played in phoenix where nash and amare went out with injuries and shaq led the team in scoring - had 40+ in 2 games and a few 30 point games, including a win over the lakers - the eventual champs. the suns were 6-0 during that span, btw.
with cleveland, he was too concerned about letting it be known that lebron was top dog (understood when you consider that lebron was in his physical peak) and he was content in his supporting role.
great teammate, champion, and arguably the best player of all time during his peak.

lol youre prolly a 15 year old. All of those players were exciting to watch except Oakley and maybe Ho Grant. But if u like physical hard nosed and defensive basketball then youd like them. Grandmama was one of the best athletes ive seen in the NBA before the injury he was shaping up to have an alltime career. Ewing was a bit more boring after the injury but he was amazing before it offensively underrated. his scoring was top of the line

Myself, I'd probably be a Barkley and a Mitch Richmond homer.
I don't remember Richmond getting a lot of national TV exposure.
Not only was he underrated and under-appreciated, he was never marketed properly on the national scene the way he deserved to be, so you might not have been a big fan unless you were a Warriors or Kings fan.
Can we 90s children answer this aswell or? I feel very old... :biggums:

I grew up being a pure shooter fanatic watching guys like Drazen Petrovic, Glen Rice, Reggie Miller, Mark Price, Chris Mullin, Dale Ellis, Mitch Richmond, Dell Curry (he sure passed on that gene or what?) and so on, just an amazing era of great shooters, Ray Allen came later along, but it was mostly Reggie Miller who stood out. I tried to pattern my game after those guys....... i loved Penny Hardaway aswell, i have still not seen a more smoother game/player than this guy.... Shawn Kemp (Seattle) i enjoyed alot aswell, many guys could dunk, but NOBODY was this funky.... Scottie Pippen.... Grant Hill..... and ofcourse a certain Michael Jordan, just couldnt find myself rooting for him & hence his team, he/they were just overkill....
TL;DR: If i got to pick one player, Reggie Miller.
Probably Scottie and Barkley

Yea, for anybody who hasnt seen AI his first 2-3 years in the NBA (or not enough), they have missed something, his speed/quickness/vertical was ridicilous, he would dunk alot & on anybody, alleyoops, facials, putback jams etc. He was really only like 5'11" (in shoes) and maybe even a inch less, like an even smaller Derrick Rose / Russell Westbrook, with MUCH better/flashier handles/moves, looked even more like a blur.
