View Full Version : BREAKING: Dwight Howard Under Investigation for Child Abuse
Fudge
11-18-2014, 12:19 PM
We’ve learned the Cobb County PD in Georgia now has an active criminal investigation into allegations he beat his 6-year-old son Braylon with a belt buckle.
The Dept. of Children and Families in Florida (DCF) determined there wasn’t enough evidence of child abuse to go forward, but it turns out the incident occurred in Georgia. Howard admits he hit his kid with a belt, but says he didn’t know it was wrong because he was hit as a kid.
Howard’s attorney says [his client’s ex] Royce Reed is “shopping her baseless allegations” to Georgia authorities even though Florida’s Dept. of Children and Families found her claims had “no merit.” […] DCF found the allegations credible but concluded they did not meet the standard of proof required for formal action. The attorney says he’s confident that Georgia will reach the same conclusion because “The truth is on our side.”

My thoughts on this - there is a HUGE difference between hitting a kid and beating a kid. I got hit growing up. I think many people, especially minority kids, got hit regularly growing up. I know bleeding heart liberals everywhere cry crocodile tears every time a kid is hit as a punishment, but IMO there's nothing wrong with that. You got to discipline your children.
On the other hand, beating a child is not OK. Beating a child means you left bruises, big welts, and hit them repeatedly with great force. If that's what he did to his son, he deserves whatever criminal charges come his way.

this is the most likely. The stories from yesterday and the day before said the child was examined by doctors and no signs of abuse were found, then his wife claimed on twitter there were signs, now some sites report there are signs. Not really enough to make a judgement on but probably a non story again. Especially considering this is the same woman he has had multiple disputes with in the past. If he beat the kid his scum but it doesn't look likely.

Why would I single out others? You posted he is a terrible father who takes his anger out on kids, how do you know this? You don't. You just want it to be true because you can't separate your dislike of a player as a basketball player from them as a human being. He has a lot of illegitimate children that's true but we do not know how he acts with the kids he recognises and helps raise. I hate Dwight as much as the next person, every Orlando fan hates Dwight, but look at the birdman child porn investigation and how many people were quick to label him in that case. This is the same sort of situation but this time it's a woman he has had past issues with alleging something that the original doctors said wasn't backed up by evidence. I'll wait for more info before labelling him a scumbag

Shoulda just made the kid watch him try and work in the post as punishment.

I think it's funny how hitting kids is seen as ok by so many people still. It's just one of those relics of a bygone era that has stuck around for a lot of people.
Newsflash: It's 2014, stop using physical pain to discipline your kids. Just because your parents or grandparents did something doesn't mean it's acceptable.

I agree to an extent, however a smack on the hand is much better than the verbal and emotional abuse that often happens in its place. There's always going to be a difference between discipline and abuse no matter what methods you use.

Disciplining your kids is a personal choice. The same way you think its funny how hitting kids is ok as a form of discipline? Is the same way I think its funny when I see kids act like this...

And yes, hitting kids as a form of discipline isn't the only way to go about it. People will never agree with a guide to discipline your kid as the one to follow. You probably didn't need a belt. That kid in the video needed it.

So, are you going to be the parent who "punishes" their kids by telling them to go to their room where they play video games for the next 3 hours?
That'll teach em to behave well.

Getting a belt put to ur behind will do that. I've been beat by a plastic race car track I found. Left a mark across both my legs. Silly me for Shaqtin a Fool in some shorts. Mother asked me more than once to do something. Not only did I talk back in a loud manner I slammed the door as she started to reply back. Wrong move, she came in, grabbed that track and gave me the business. Let's just say talking back to my mother like I was the man of the house while slamming her door since I paid $0 of rent while she started talkin never happened. Heck I never slammed a door, cabinet door, dresser drawer after that.

IF it is true...exactly. A lot of idiots here are condemning him solely from allegations. He has not even been arrested or charged and the allegation was already deemed to have no merit once...but lets just get the hang man ready right now.

It isn't an allegation IF DWIGHT ADMITTED TO IT WHICH HE HAS. Dwight told the police that he hit the kid with a belt buckle. What don't you understand about that?

Holy hell, you are really using that detail to discredit the case? Dwight said he hit his child with a belt (allegedly with the buckle). The doctor who examined the boy said the injuries appeared similar to what would happen if someone was struck repeatedly with the buckle end of a belt.
The Florida police closed the cased, but wait! New information has come up in the last couple days in which this is being investigated, again, in the state where this happened. The location in this case matters big time which is why it is being investigated in Georgia.
Regardless, it doesn't even matter what the boy was struck with. Hitting a boy not only once, but multiple times is a ****ing disgrace. Dwight is scum and has proven it over the years and will continue to prove it.

Any man that hits a woman or child is not a man. I will hurt someone if they do it in front of me.

People say this but never prove it. Spoiled brats will always exist. So will bad kids.
Dwight doesnt seem to have done anything wrong in this case though. Unless we learn new information.

What argument is there to make? You obviously don't like Howard and are enjoying this little drama. You did say this:"Dwight is scum and has proven it over the years and will continue to prove it." We don't exactly have an objective opinion do we? :kobe:

Vesicostomy: A vesicostomy is a surgical opening in the bladder to the outside of the body (lower belly) that allows urine to drain. Like a colostomy for pee instead of poo.

In ten years yelling at your kid will be against the law as well. Shits ****ed, these little mother****ers need a beltng when they **** shit up.
Not that I condone child abuse or hitting 6yos with a belt, but spanking and controlled, measured punishment is fine imo.

Myth....
"Discipline" is different then whipping a child with Belt Buckle.
Especially in the toddler years. Removing a toddler from a situation ( If the child is acting out) and staying with the child while they calm down and letting them know they will always be removed with Bad Behavior ...that is discipline. ( But it has to be done consistently...that is the key)
whipping a toddler with a belt Buckle is abusive and pointless.....teaches people to be sociopaths.
Back in the Good Ol' days.....wasn't very good. ask most old people....especially those that got whipped.
look at society in the good ol days.....we whipped and hung people for being different.....not good...not good at all.

Some kids just don't respond to mental punishment before a certain age. Ours didn't, any sort of non physical punishment he'd be over in a matter of minutes.
Physical pain was the only thing that really deterred him when he was really little. We never used a belt, but sometimes you gotta do things you don't like to make sure your kids turn out right.

"Dr. Kesler noted Braylon to have a linear bruise and patterned abrasions consistent with the history given by Braylon of being struck with a belt numerous times by his father." The report goes on to say the injuries were "consistent with Braylon being struck with the buckle end of the belt ... with excessive force, resulting in soft tissue injuries such as bruising and abrasions."
And the report indicates Dr. Kesler found the injuries lasted longer than 24 hours and were "consistent with a medical diagnosis of physical abuse."

Normal adults don't leave matches or anything else that's obvious dangerous for kids to take in the first place :oldlol: There's always some dumbass that will leave matches, a lighter or a gun for his kid to pick up though. Like I said before, some parents should be beaten senseless for the stupid shit they do.
Wow welcome to the real world. Kids get access to all sorts of stuff everyday in the real world. Maybe in your world kids live in a bubble where they aren't exposed to anything dangerous unless its the absolute fault of the parent. Not like kids are adventurous and find ways to get themselves into trouble. Everything in the world isn't child proofed.
That's why people raise their children as best they can, teach them the difference between right and wrong, safe and not safe, and hope through their teachings and the childs daily exposure to life and everything around them makes them sensible young people. Sometime kids have to learn through negative experiences though, we all did. That's one of the many reasons we grow to know better.

Given the recent suspension of that NFL player, how does the NBa handle this?

Dwight is a barbaric child abuser that has to play a role as this happy go lucky clown dunker w/ no ball skills. he only relies on his athleticism and physical gifts, on and off the court. looks like he even uses it on his kids, disgusting. next thing u know his kid will be found in a trash can

That's my question, They'll obviously wait to see how the whole thing unfolds but if charges are filed then he could be looking at missing at some serious playing time depending on the outcome

It almost entirely depends on public outcry.
Pro sports are all about money. The NFL thought 2 games with sufficient punishment for rice. In their minds they always thought 2 nfl games = 20 MLB games = 10 NBA games.
People who never watch the NFL (eg. feminists) got angry that KOing your wife got a 2 game suspension. I dont think they realize that 2 games in the NFL is 1/8th the whole season. And I guess after watching the video it was light.
Anyways sponsors started threatening to pull out of the NFL and thats when they dropped the hammer. With peterson the vikings dropped the hammer when their local sponsor threatened to pull out. And the NFL is trying to be tough to avoid looking lenient as they looked in the rice situation.
If no child activist/rights group or anti child abuse group takes an issue with dwight, the NBA will do nothing or maybe something very light. If this issue gets traction and threatens the NBA's money even a little dwight is in trouble
Kobe was fine after the Kate faber situation largely because Faber was not a sympathetic character. Perception > reality
