Probably that, or the time limit on freethrows.

Yeah, I kind of get the time limit on FTs, but 5 seconds back to the basket is the dumbest rule ever. Thankfully they don't call it so much. Then again, the league probably would push the refs to call it more if there were more post players in the league. Those assholes.

The biggest no call in terms of volume has to be 3 in the key no?

I'd say it's traveling but you're right 3 seconds doesn't get called very often either.

You should have excluded travelling.

Palming. Basically it doesn't exist anymore.

Serious question...

How do you even do that as a basketball player?

The first thing you are taught in basketball is how to catch and pivot, and use your steps. At no point did I ever just start walking forward with the ball. I know I'm not allowed. It is something so basic, fundamental, and at the forefront of basketball, and he doesn't do it (not just him, I've seen this happen plenty). It just makes you wonder... How?

Just a simple brainfart.. so much goes through a players mind, especially when orchestrating the offense and setting up plays. It's very easy to slip up from time to time.

Seriously though, he has been playing ball longer than he has been talking and walking... Never in my basketball playing time have I just started walking forward while looking for a pass. :oldlol:
Not even a brain fart can cause that. Maybe throwing a bad pass, but completely ignoring everything and just moving forward? I think the ref didn't call it, because even he was confused. :oldlol:

I can remember occasions in recent history where all the calls in this thread were made ( 3 secs, traveling, 5 secs, palming etc.), I cant remember the last time I saw a DOUBLE DRIBBLE call.

They literally never call this and NBA players abuse the hell out of it way more than traveling, its DOUBLE DRIBBLE hands down.

In Wade's case not really! I've seen him do similar stuff several times. He never gets called for it though :D

I think I saw a double dribble call just the other night. Either in the Cavs game or in a Miami game. But you're right, they hardly ever call it. But it doesn't bother me as much as other missed calls.

Why have the enforcement on the rules mentioned in this thread become so lax over the past couple decades?

I like a great basketball move as much as anyone, but not if rules are constantly being ignored. It's as bad as blatant flopping, or putting your shoulder down and throwing yourself into defenders.

Id probably say the 5 second back to the basket call..I rarely see that called.....

Or we could go with carrying/palming since everyone does it and its never called....

I remember being specifically taught that was a no-no, and it being called. I'm guessing everyone copies the pros these days. It's pretty much ignored in college now.

Yeah, 3 seconds and probably illegal screens since there are a ton of opportunities to call those.

Yeah, they used to call it close in college, they still call traveling in college but they let the palming/carrying go......
