You aren't not ready because you're thirty. You're not ready based on your conditions
Settle in with a woman first before you decide to have kids. Or in the condition you are right now you want a kid? Adopt

Put a ring on her finger before putting a baby inside her.

I had my first son when I was 28. My wife was 27. But we were also dating for 7 years before that. We also lived together. Our combined income was roughly 110,000/yr at the time. It was a big responsibility then.
Like I said, you don't sound like you have the stability to have children just yet. But if you're interested, adopt. I'd go with a kid who's passed the years where they are 100% completely dependent on you and realistically easy to manage with your salary. Maybe a 4 year old? You'd be doing society a favor to by giving a home to an orphaned child

Based on that post it has nothing to do with your age and everything to do with your intelligence, maturity, and stability of your relationship.
Plus you still live with your Dad.

That's more of a cultural norm. I the kids have their own children everyone pitches in and provides help.

You will to when you grow up.

If you don't want to **** up your child's life, you need to be more mature, have a stable career, and a stable relationship, before you reproduce.

I think you sound incredibly immature and people probably tell you to wait because they don't think you're fit to properly bring a child into this world. If you are a student at the least you should finish that up before having a kid.
Damn, never thought I'd consider myself mature compared to someone who's 30 but there it is.

I don't see in any of your posts you mention if you or your girlfriend want kids or feel you are ready for kids. Being able to afford kids is not the same as being ready.
Everyone nowadays tells everyone to wait and it's just stupid advice thinking that it's now normal to have kids at 40+. You are at a fine age to have kids and don't even worry about the money thing, it's all about if you and you're girlfriend are really ready for them.

Almost the exact same situation with my wife and I. I feel like it was a very good age to have kids, although when I go to stuff with the kids now I feel like all the other parents are either in early 20's or 40's

Why the hell do you want to ruin things right now with a kid? Seriously. Your life will completely change with a kid. All the things you like to do now, say goodbye. Your sleep schedule? Say goodbye. Any free time you had before to just **** off, those are long gone.
You live at home and are still paying off student loans. Don't put yourself in a deeper hole. Having a kid is a life changer and you ain't ready for it. If you really like this chic and don't want to F things up, wait on the kid.

Having your own child is the greatest thing a human can experience, IMO.
45 thousand a year is PLENTY of money. I have a daughter and I could only WISH to make that one day.

Exactly. And the great thing is, time spent teaching and loving a child is worth way more than any dollar value. To you and the child.
I don't have much money, but I do know how to read. I read my soon to be two year old daughter books all the time. Mainly Dr. Suess right now. Once again, I don't have much money, but I can walk and I live right by a big natural history and art museum. It is free and there is a huge play room full of learning toys for kids. Etc.
So your girl is 10 years younger than you and is 20. She is basically a kid herself.
I can guarantee you she'll want to be with a different guy in three years, because in three years she will have matured a ton but you will still be the same guy. I wouldn't really want to add a kid to the equation until I'm very sure my relationship is build to last, but that's just me.

Can't help but love a man taking his parental investment seriously.
Can already see her being brighter than her peers with better drive, ready to do good for this world.
Bless you man.

Being able to support a child is not about buying them PS4's or taking them to Disney World. It's about giving them basic needs, providing them with a good education, and good neighborhood to grow up in.
If you can only hope to make 40K one day what's gonna happen when you lose your shitty job? What kind of education are they getting in your neighborhood? How will they go to college?

God says to focus on today. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may not come.
I don't want to suffer from neurosis. And anyone can go to college, especially if they're poor. Pell grants, loans, etc.

Things it doesn't appear you have considered:
- Whether or not your girl wants a kid
- Whether or not your kid would be affected by his parents not being together (she's 20, you saying "I have my pick of girls")
- Whether you are happy living off $45k for the rest of your life (whilst its not impossible, career progression will most likely be stalled)

So when did 45k a year became so little? Its not a goldmine but its not a little either. Unless you are one of those that buy a 1000$ cellphone every 6 months coupled with clothes made by famous names with an BMW. Kids dont need the latest PS4 or iPhone! They need nurture, love and discipline. Just make sure your girl wants the kids OP.

Why knock up before you get married? What happens if you guys break up?
People probably tell you to wait because you have an 18 yr old's mentality. If you can't man up and buy a ring, you definitely aren't ready for a kid. :facepalm
