Winter's coming and it's about time. All my life I usually wear athletic shoes, mostly basketball shoes like Nikes. Right now I need a pair of work boots, preferably would work well in the snow as well. But I have no knowledge regarding work boots, and what brands are good.

Can someone recommend me some good boots? Thanks.

What's your budget and are you just kicking around in them or will you be working/standing all day in them.

I haven't worn their work boots, but I like KEENs. I worn their urban/hiking type boots and shoes and they are very comfortable and well made.

Here's their work boots

$100-200.

Yeah I don't know anything about them, as I said, I've been wearing Nike's all my life.

Can you actually get any quality boots for less than 100?

You'll want the best Asolo, Salomon, Vasque, or Keen's (in that order) that you can afford and like the styling of.

Can't go wrong with Timberlands.

You can look into other brands. Red Wing, Wolverine if you prefer style with good function. Keen, Caterpillar, Asolo if you more concerned of the technology of the shoe. But the timbs are a decent buy for a winter work boot.

Not that are waterproof.
Bought these 5 years ago from Walmart for like $60. They keep my feet warm in the winter, they have the fur/felt material on the inside as well, and I've stood in 6 inches of ice water for 5-10 minutes with no leaks and no apparent temperature transfer.

That boot really isn't a winter boot though. With those treads you'll slip everywhere.

Those are just duck boots. You can buy any cheap rubber/half rubber boot. Those will not last under regular use in addition to being terribly ugly.

You don't need to waste your money on "winter" boots anyway. It's a better investment to get hiking boots and a pair of wool socks. It will suffice anywhere south of Winnipeg.

Yeah. That'll last a winter. Then you can buy the same pair the next year, and the year after that, and after that.

He asked for work boots that are adequate for the winter season. Not fugly cheap trail boots.

Try Pajar
http://www.pajar.com/ca_en/men/footwear.html?p=2

Go towards the middle of the page.

I just got me some North Face because they were on special, but they're snow boots minus 40 degree weather. Otherwise the Pajar would've been on my feet.

I tried them on, and it's basically like wearing sneakers... comfy, light, and warm as hell. Great quality build.
