that's right.. Lakers right now are on track to be the worst defensive team in history.. Amazing.. quite an achievement.. how is it even possible when they kobe stans claim kobe's defense is still elite???
2014-2015 lakers.. WORST DEFENSE IN NBA HISTORY!!!
kobe hasn't been elite defensively in over a decade
his stans think he was good because they don't understand team defense is more valuable than one on one. Kobe up until a few years ago was still good man to man defender but the league has evolved a lot over the years and there are fewer isolation mano a mano type situations. I wouldn't say he was a bad defender but he has preserved energy and effort on one end for the other.

A good portion of defence is coaching. And the Lakers coaching is horrible. If they had Thibs they would be an average defensive team

Kobe is taking 25 shots a game on basically 30% shooting, isn't that worst ever?

I don't see how all of this falls on kobe...you have lin who gives up 20/10 every other night against opposing PG's and even a mosquito can drop 30 on Boozer if it wanted too.
We just don't have the horses on defense to be competitive with top teams. Ed Davis needs more minutes but BScott thinks Sacre and Boozer are good role players so Davis keeps on playing 20 min max.

But I'm sure the defense would improve if Kobe just passed it to Boozer more often.

I bet Boozer would hit more than 35% fg so yes, it would be a start. Why do defencive?
Why not admit that Kobe is stealing Laker money?
Never has a player earned so much while playing that awful offence and defence.
The best he could do to improve the team is to sit out
Kobe is litteraly the opposition's best weapon during games, their own trojan horse so to speak.
The more Kobe shoots, the better chance for the opposing team to win.
It's that bad.
It's a shame it's come to this :facepalm  :(

If you think Kobe is stealing money then you need to rethink everything you have ever thought was true. If the Lakers weren't paying Kobe they would be talked about as much as the 76ers. Is Kobe as a basketball player worth what he is being paid? Hell no. Is Kobe worth what he is being paid as a business asset? Easily.
The Lakers problems are bad but as long as Kobe is Kobe they will make money and as a business owner that is usually priority 1

The Lakers have a top 7 offense and a historically bad defense clearly the problem is Kobe shooting too much. #ISHlogic :oldlol:

Kobe's offense:
On Court: 107.2
Off Court: 111.5
Net: -4.3
Kobe's defense:
On Court: 122.3
Off Court: 108.4
Net: +13.9
Total impact:
Net Total: -18.3
Dat negative impact
Kobe hurting his team on both ends of the court. If there was a Least Valuable Player award, Kobe would be the clear favorite right now.

Kobe off court = 75% data from 4th quarter blowouts played by third stringers. Thanks for the numbers on how those guys are doing though, very valuable and important information.

Kobe is horrible on D. Harden might be better than him at this point. He cpearly saves all his energy for offense. He was lost/got beat against the Mavs so many times.
I want to blame Scott but they just don't have the legs to keep up. Hill is a lazy defender at times and you have two of the worst defenders at their respective positions in Kobe and Boozer. Lin tries but still gets caught going the wrong way in screens. Johnson is their best defender as a starter.
The bench doesn't get any better. Price is supposed to be a defensive minded guard but he's worse than Lin. Davis is a good help defense shot blocker but he's clueless...absolutely clueless on the PnR. Young is pretty much just average.

Kobe is horrible, but alot of this has to do with misses. He's one of the players furthest away from the basket, missing 20 shots a game simply gives quicker teams good opportunities to created shots against a none settled defense. Even if Kobe scored 30 on 24 shots, but only hitting 9 shots - rest FTs. That'd hurt the team.
That said it's not all his fault. Kobe's been that way since his rookie days. The team is simply not built for this brand of basketball.
