According to statistics, last season he was one of the top rim defenders according to opponent FG% at the rim. I am pretty sure he was ranked in the top 5 if not top 2? I made a thread about it last season.

He`s a bonafide scrub on offence but that is not what the team wants from him. On D he`s very capable. Heavy like a moutain and a fighter, not playing for stats but team results. The anti Kevin Love you could say :lol

We need to get rid of the idea that Perkins is a scrub. It's a myth. He has a role and he plays it very well. He shuts down the overrated Dwight every time they match up.

There was an article about Perk back in his Boston days while the Celtics were still making noise, he said his favorite matchups were the ones that let him get dirty in the paint and bang around a little bit, i.e. against guys like Howard and Al Jefferson. He said he specifically disliked playing guys like Bosh because they would drag him out of his comfort zone defensively and take him off the dribble more

Perkins was Grizzlies MVP in the playoffs a few seasons ago. On one play he got the rebound, dribbled up the court and then dropped the ball, then fell on the player who stole it and fouled. On another, he missed a wide open 2 foot layup. Didn't even hit rim.. all backboard. :lol His role is a defensive stopper and he couldn't even do that. Nick Collison would come in and do a better job. I was sad everytime he'd leave the floor and go onto the bench.
