Didn't watch Big Ben at all in his prime (01-06), since I wasn't even born yet, so I can't speak on him.

Seen a lot of highlights and stuff though and it seems like he might be a much better 1 on 1 shot blocker, while Serge is the better weak side shot blocker. Serge is definitely the better chase down blocker, that's for sure. Shot blocking connoisseurs, provide some more insight on this riveting matchup of two monsters, doe. Tough to decide.

Ibaka is the most dominant shotblocker I have ever seen at the NBA Level

He had entire Spurs team scared to go inside and forced them to start Diaw and Bonner

Serge is slighty better than prime Big Ben in terms of blocking shots... but...Big Ben is the better overall defender.

Silly question Fudge boy. That's like me asking," who's more injury prone, Harden or Durant?" The question is so absurd. I should be negged simply for dignifying this question with a response.

Agreed. But you can't overstate enough how much better Ben was overall.

I'll go with big Ben. That pistons defense was stifling, so he didn't get to show of how good he was at blocking. Passions as a whole contained opponents and when they did slip through, Wallace was ready to clean up. He was the defensive anchor on one of the greatest defenses of all time

Yeah. Ben's prime was in the half-court, big man days. He had to spend all his energy guarding Duncan/Shaq/O'Neal (back to the basket guys who you weren't getting blocked).

Serge plays in the guard-oriented, attack the basket/pick and roll era. The bigs he has to defend are jump shooters and guards just run into him.

Ben's blocks would have gone up considerably had he played today with a grounded defender next to him.

Ibaka was/is the better scorer/shooter but Big Ben was better than him at everything else. He had a desire to get that rebound. Ibaka is one of them retards that you can pump fake and abuse if you have decent low post game because he is thirsty for that block. Dude knows blocks earns him time on Sportscenter, no one is impressed with a rebound. Give me Big Ben 100 out of 100 times. He can anchor a defense.

I mean, he probably could have. But, like, we didn't really get the chance to see Ibaka defend the likes of past-their-prime Alonzo and Shaq. So...yeah.

And Zo in his prime in 06? :yaohappy: Put your helmet back on, retardo.

It's Ben Wallace. Ibaka went for a TON of fakes and compromised his positioning on rebounds after challenging shots to get his 3.7 bpg. Ben Wallace got those shot blocking numbers while anchoring one of the greatest defenses of all time and was always in position to challenge for the rebound if he doesn't make the block.

Ben was one of the most overrated players I've seen in a long time. He was a great rebounder and a great weak side shot blocker. He was a poor man defender and would get lost in rotations all the time. In international play he looked so lost it was pathetic. He was strong but he was way too short to body up real centers. He was also an offensive liability. Was about as uncoordinated with the ball as Chris Dudley and shot FTs just about as poorly. Again, excellent rebounder and weak side shot blocker but he was not a great man defender. I don't have much to say about Ibaka, I'm just talking about Wallace.

I agree on him being overrated and a average man to man defender. However, I can't say for sure in regard to rotations.

Big Ben, def. And a better defender, as well as rebounder. He looked like the body guard in Planet of the Apes. Absolute beast of a human specimen. Garbage offensively though. When I lived in Detroit I loved rooting for him.
