Yeah Springfield Missouri haha we were towing a racecar to Wisconsin and the rear axle (tandem) ripped out of the trailer... So what we were doing was spending two days laying in the mud in the parking lot of a company that sells boat trailers, using their stuff patching ours back together...lol
nice people, the trailer company gave us an open door to their parts room and found us a guy in town that could narrow up one of their new axles to fit on our trailer, the girl in the hotel never once made a noise when these two filthy guys walled in looking for a room... bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable...
found great BBQ restaurant too, just down the street from the bass pro shop which was also fun to check out...
from that point on we always have scheduled Springfield as one of our stops for overnight when going back and fourth lot better than Tulsa...lol

Big Al Jefferson. :oldlol:
Charlotte's a lot like the way you describe Dallas, a great place to live, not much in the way of touristy stuff. Like Dallas it's a fairly big town with the restaurants, clubs, arts, professional sports, etc. that come with being in a big town. There's the NASCAR hall of fame if you're into that stuff. :oldlol:
We have 11 local breweries in town, some of which are walking distance from my house. So there's that.

Pittsburgh is way better than it used to be but it's mostly a cool place for younger people these days. I've seen it get compared to Portland a lot lately but it is very early in the hipster development of things right now. Luckily there are cultural factors to balance that out.
Not a city to plan on visiting right now but it's fun if you ever happen to be in the area.

Sounds cool. How is the economy there atm? You gotta watch out for gentrification. I've seen it happen. First you get some cool places to hang out. Things are inexpensive, cool people, cool vibe. Then the hipster nation gets word and starts to take over. Then if the economy is doing well you get the young movers and shakers who build mini mansions and send their kids to private school. It inevitably leads to prices going up, a Whole Foods in every neighborhood and a Starbucks on every corner.

Economy is doing very well at the moment. We've got a strong banking industry going on, Google and other tech companies are expanding in the area, solid little film industry now thanks to some subsidies, and the cities budget is improving bit by bit.
Gentrification is definitely starting to take place but it's only gotten really noticeable in a couple spots around the city. It's definitely getting to be more of a hotspot lately tho. There are some hipster gentrification zones but Pittsburgh has a lot of municipalities because the area gets splintered by the hills and rivers so it should develop a little differently than other areas. Downtown really isn't much of a central hub so the development of the surrounding areas should be interesting.
It will be interesting to see what happens because a lot depends on my generation and what we do over the next 10 years. Lots of recent college grads in the area that have the potential to either **** it all up or really take off.

Spring is nice down here although can be a bitch if you have seasonal allergies. My favorite season is Fall: cool at night, warm during the day, low humidity.
Myrtle Beach is called the Redneck Riviera for a reason. Other spots on the SC coast are much better. I love Hilton Head, Isle of Palms, Kiawah Island much better.
My mom lives in Atlanta so I go down there regularly. It's similar to L.A. in that it is a cluster of communities spread out over a large area. Traffic is worse than L.A. imo. Like Charlotte it retains a lot of Southern charm and there are some really cool neighborhoods like Decatur and Little Five Points. You just gotta keep clear of the swarms of walkers.

Yeah, Myrtle is a cesspool. :lol
It's where a lot of HS/college kids take trips to in the summer as well to rent out a house (I did in like '09). Fun if you are just a kid looking to binge out the summer before college but I'd never go back. My favorite beach spot is still the Outer Banks in NC. A lot more low key and the beach side communities are awesome.

I like the Outer Banks too but don't get there that often because it's such a long drive from Charlotte (6-7 hrs through tobacco fields and swamps). I like the Northern part from Nags Head up to Corolla.

Yeah that's cool. I'm originally from Oklahoma but live in Springfield now. There's a big local car scene here. I know there's several good barbecue places right by Bass Pro. Not a bad place but I agree, much better than Tulsa.
