Look I hate ISIS like the rest of you but can you just keep 1 thread active for ISIS? They are a bunch of retards and they don't need a new thread documenting all the stupid and barbaric things they do. Just like I wanted 1 thread for all the stupid things JR Smith tweets/does, keep it in 1 thread. We will let 9er make the thread once he returns from that vacation he goes on after every time the 49ers get smoked.

Everytime the U.S. intervenes shit just get worse

US air strikes in Syria are encouraging anti-regime fighters to forge alliances with or even defect to Islamic State (Isis), according to a series of interviews conducted by the Guardian.

Yeah, i wouldn't trust anything the Guardian has to say on the matter.

That only implies things have got worse if those anti-regime fighters weren't too far ideologically from IS in the first place, which i really doubt. It's about time politicians admit their mistakes and accept they armed the wrong side of this conflict and aided the forces most opposed to our civilisation and way of life (Islamism).

According to this guy's experience there doesn't seem to be much of a divide between the so-called 'moderate' and 'extremist' factions in Syria:

Why not? Its only matter of time before Assad goes down and then what. More sectarian violence? This religiousfrankenstein wont end well.

Because anti-regime fighters were already anti-American. This doesn't change their allegiances, they are simply defecting from weakened groups to a stronger one in IS. There really isn't that much ideological divergence between the whole lot of them.

A matter of time before Assad goes down now?

The Syrian Army took Homs in decisive fashion earlier this year and over the past months Aleppo too has become a lost cause for the rebels. When the parts of Aleppo that are still under rebel control fall (and it's really only a question of when at this point), Assad has functional control over the entire west of the country.

Assad isn't going anywhere unless the west makes him.

Assad isn't going anywhere unless the west makes him. If all jihadi movements join together, Assad stands no chance. Hes already relying on outside shiite forces to fight for his army. Its been a long exhausting war and he doesnt have unlimited supplies of manpower, cash and resources. He lost several oil and gas fileds to the IS, which they exploit. Furhermore, in recent weeks Assad has been facing difficulties in the south, where some of his supply routes are at risk of being cut off.

Which major resources have been lost by Assad to IS in the past year? IS has mostly cannibalized the land from the other rebels and taken stuff from the Kurds and in Iraq. Assad has gained a lot of power in the western part of the country lately, not lost.

We'll have to wait and see how much bigger this IS jihadi force will become, but so far they have mostly picked weak targets. For very good reason I think, because as an army they actually aren't about much.

Why is west syria so important? Because it is a pice of shit desert land? Assad is having lots of troubles in the south and is at risk one of his highway being cut off by "rebels".

U.S.-Backed Rebels Make Gains South of Damascus, Syria

Syrian rebels backed by the United States are making their biggest gains yet south of the capital Damascus, capturing a string of towns from government forces and aiming to carve out a swath of territory leading to the doorstep of President Bashar Assad's seat of power. "The goal is to reach the capital ... because there is no way to bring down the regime without reaching Damascus," said Ahmad al-Masalmeh, an opposition activist in Daraa.

Because it's the population center of Syria. Damascus, Aleppo, Homs. The rest of Syria is what's the desert you are referring to.

Like the villages south of Damascus. They can't even take the small towns beyond Daraa for now, let alone pose any threat whatsoever to Damascus. You are reading too much into a couple villages. Taking a couple of villages is nothing compared to losing Homs and Aleppo. Those are massive losses.
