who would you trust for the last shot:

DIRK (right now, in his 17th season and in his PRIME)
KOBE( right now, after 2 MAJOR INJURIES and in his PRIME)
PIERCE (right now and in his PRIME)
Durant
Lebron
Carmelo

A) RIGHT NOW, i would go:

Durant
Dirk
Lebron
Carmelo
Pierce
Kobe

B)PRIME-TIME of ALL PLAYERS

DIrk
Pierce
Durant
Lebron
Kobe
Carmelo

People often resort to emotions to tackle this sort of question, but fortunately, it can be solved with some basic mathematics.

Dirk "the German Wunderkind" Nowitzki currently has a PER (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324201)

Pierce or Dirk, no question. Slightly prefer Pierce if there's a bit more time on the clock.

Durant or Dirk, it doesn't matter. Both will make that shot.

Durant if I need the player to create the shot himself.

Dirk otherwise

Durant.

Joe Johnson deserves a mention. Even when he was in his prime he wasn't some top tier HOF talent like a Dirk, Durant, Lebron, Kobe, etc, and now he's nothing special..but when it comes down to knocking down shots when it matters, he's up there with anybody currently in the league.

Right Now:

LeBron James

All time:

Dirk Nowitzki

People often resort to emotions to tackle this sort of question, but fortunately, it can be solved with some basic mathematics.

Dirk "the German Wunderkind" Nowitzki currently has a PER (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324201)™ of 18.1.

Kobe "the self-proclaimed Black Mamba" Bryant currently has a (league-leading) PER of 32.0.

This means that Kobe jacks up approximately 1.8 shots for every 1 that Dirk takes. As a rough approximation, we can multiply this by their FG% to see the effective FG%, or what I patent as eFG%

Dirk eFG% = 1*0.511 = 0.511
Kobe eFG% = 1.8*0.379 = 0.682

And you can see that it isn't that close. Now, in case you are having trouble envisioning this, what will most likely happen is that in Dirk's case he will fire up the shot and either make it or miss it and that'll be the end of it. In Kobe's case, he will almost certainly miss it, but then he will fire it up again (and again if need be) and eventually he'll make it. Since the game doesn't care about how many shots you take, only how many you make, in the end, Kobe's result is superior.

Warmest regards,

Ayotunde Ndiaye

The 'patented' eFG% killed me. :oldlol:

You need to add the TM to it dude, wouldn't want anyone stealing it.

Right now? Lebron, just a great passer/shooter/scorer/creator looking for the best & correct play.... just logic... He simply has a strategy/gamestyle that gives the highest chance to develope 1-2-3 points for your team especially when it matters... do you want to win or not??

If its simply a forced jumpshot, well there i have to go with the best shooter right now... Steph Curry... but from that list its either Dirk or Durant.....

Probably Dirk with everyone at their overall best, and Durant right now (without him being injured and still closely followed by Nowitzki :lol)

Got some other very clutch players on that list, who could very well take/make "that" shot also, so don't get me wrong.

God some of you really buy media hype. If you look at the statistics alone its:

1) Lebron* (Highest PPP including passing) (will make the right play)
2) Dirk
3) Durant
4) Carmelo
5) Kobe

* Not only to take the last shot, but to make the final play.
