I normally side with cops on things, especially when they are dealing with people involved with some sort of crime but this is ridiculous. Another news source said one of the deputies actually drew his weapon on the banana wielding man.

The dude pointed a banana at two cops like it was a gun, at night, from a distance. Not too bright. Felony charges should be dropped to misdemeanors, and he should do a little time, just for being a dipshit. Cops did nothing wrong.

It's an implied threat. If it's dark and the guy is brandishing the banana like a gun, how do the cops know what it is? They're taking it as a threat.
