His development will be a great barometer for what kind of coach Kidd will be. He not your typical developmental player. He's beyond raw, needs real help at the fundamental level and has a high ceiling.

One thing is for sure, guys like this don't develop on their own or in the off season, without a good coach and team in place that takes control of that developmental pattern.

Happy to see the Bucks find some success this year.

Jesus he looks like he could get baseline to baseline in about 4 dribbles. Bucks fans, does he need to bulk up though?

I agree with most of your post but the bolded. This narrative has been forced so many times by so many people that it's apparently fact now. Being long, athletic, and incredibly physically gifted =/= being raw. If he's raw, then Wiggins is about as skilled as a 5th grader.

Nah I don't think so. I would actually prefer it if he stopped growing and bulking up, watching him this year and last year it's clear he's still adjusting to the growth and increase in weight. His jumper especially has been affected, last year it looks rock solid from a fundamental sense, and it looked like it was just a matter of refinement. But this year it looks like the added weight and growth both height and length-wise has thrown off his shooting motion.

He seems to be adjusting better day by day and his performances over this season show it, but I think he's reached a decent frame. Roughly 6'11" and 220..right now physically he looks like a stronger version of 19 year old KD. KD has come a long way athletically though, he looks so much quicker and explosive at 25-26 now than he did back then..I'm expecting similar results for Giannis..stay where he's at, and train accordingly.

wait what?

did he wake up one morning being much heavier?

please consider NBA players take jump shots on average, daily, and adding weight is a slow process, he adjusts on the go, it's not like one morning he's suddenly a bit too heavy to make his jumpshots and he starts missing them on trainning... this is one of those bullshit kind of meta sport arguments people love to make but really don't make any sense

Ok :oldlol:

He's a 19 year old kid who's grown over an inch and gained roughly 25 pounds in about a year..it's not some meta argument, it's reality. No shit he's gonna have to adjust to it. Watch the games.

Bucks are actually 10-7 so far, good enough for #4 seed in the East.
And that is with a totally new coach, new system, and the youngest roster in the league.

This. Bucks are a completely different franchise right now. Not only is it a visible difference..everyone on the team has talked about it and it's been well documented. The new owners are younger, more intelligent, more aware than Kohl ever was and have a clear vision for this team both for the arena as well as the team itself. Kidd is a promising young coach and has completely changed the culture in the locker room..everyone is playing hard, and most everyone is playing selflessly. We have two potential superstars, one of which is already the best all-around player player on the team despite what stats may say..the other has been great when he's given minutes and given shots. The fans are starting to have faith in this team again. It's just a totally different vibe than from year's past..but it's gonna take a couple years for casual fans to notice.

Not only unusual, but never seen... the way he moves especially with that ballcontrol/ballhandling is nothing ive seen before from a guy who is officially listed 6'11" and above.... closest would be i guess Durant & Odom....

Dalembert got shoved from behind, not sure if that counts and VC was not exactly as far back as Lebron there and hence certainly not further back, if you take a look:

The closest ive seen somebody dunk that far back in a game is Julius Erving. Lemme see if i can find the footage.

I know, np bro, i just like to generalizing, just in case. :)

Also, Jordan had a dunk where he arguably took of from probably same distance or hell arguably some inch further back but its impossible to tell due to the takeof spot, he came in from the corner. Saw that GIF right here on ISH once, does anybody have it? He took of from behind the painted area, next to the FT line, just before the first free throw block on the side.

http://gifsforum.com/images_new/gif/other/grand/919b363305d3199f4c450c8c41f36c01.gifYet another reason why I can't stand the cut-to-baseline cam during live action. I know that gif is of the replay but even on the live action, they showed Jordan approaching, then quickly cut away to a floor angle at the last second, making it tough to get a comparable feel for his takeoff.

Edit: Oh, the live angle's accounted for too, didn't see it at first.

Although I think your point is a fair one...in what ways is he fundamentally polished.

Perhaps our answers would differ on these questions

Does he have a post game?

Offensively can he create off a pick for a teammate?

Is he a liability when a jumpshot outside of 16 feet presents itself.

Why is he a top 3 in turnovers on his team?

Defensively, how well does he defend the pick?

Do you feel that he compensates on defensive rotating with his athleticism?

When he defers is it because its the right thing to do?

I don't see where athleticism would equate to sound fundamentals. On the opposite end I see your point but there's no way we've seen what kind of game he's going to have 4-5 years from now.

I certainly think we have a better grasp where Wiggins would be...since you drew correlation.

Not one mention of him doing this off the wrong foot and off hand? George Gervin was the King of the long distance, floater finger roll (even had a commercial highlighting it, but I doubt he did it off the wrong foot). -----> Gervin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJi3oVq5r6M. You don't know how hard it is to teach gifted guards how to do the short step/long step on a break to throw the defender off and finish with the strong hand, much less the off hand.

Giannis has a thirst in him like Garnett had when he was young. So I think he will be alright in his development of an all around game. Giannis has more physical gifts than Garnett (very rarely do you see that well developed ambidextrous small players, much less among the tallest, at this young age). But Garnett was already showing a shooting touch at 19 and his desire to rebound was a bit uncommon. But Giant is his own guy and looks like he might be as adroit as Durant with rock mobility.
