View Full Version : What is the argument for LeBron having been better than Durant in 2014?

I'm just curious, once again. I continue to hear LeBron stans spew nonsense about how he has been the best in the league since 2008 or 2009 and has been ever since. In what world does LeBron have ANY argument over Durant last year? Because he made it to the Finals? Where his team was absolutely blown out in 5 games, meanwhile Durant was busy losing to the same team in OT of game 6 in the WCF

Finals>WCF

deal with it

while we're at it, Durant played piss poor in the west playoffs and Reggie Jax and Westbrook had to carry his ass to the WCF

Memphis, Clippers > the shit Lebron faced in the EC Playoffs (Bobcats LOL, TOSB Nets, Pacers that were struggling)

and they both lost to the same team, if Heat faced the Spurs in the ECF, they would have been out too :coleman:

KD had the better season. He added an MVP and a scoring title to his accolades :confusedshrug:

Lebron didnt have his best postseason run by any stretch of the imagination, but he did outperform Durant. There was a considerable drop in his level play from the regular season, and OKC was very close to a deep hole against Memphis barring some Reggie Jackson heroics. He was also arguably outperformed by his own team mate on both ends of the court.

the rest of the basketball world tells you Lebron is the better player.

Different opponents, you can't compare them number to number like they played under the same circumstances and against the same teams..

One played the Bobcats, Nets, Pacers in their conference

other player Grizzlies, Clippers & Spurs in their conference

And don't forget how KD had to shoulder a bigger load in the regular season (and play more minutes) with Russ injured early. Lebron had his lowest usage rating since 06-07 and missed 4 more games than KD.

Lebron faced an inexperienced Playoff team in the 1st round while KD faced a tough Memphis squad.

And don't forget that KD was superb in elimination games, after being down 2 -3 on Memphis, he averaged 35/9/2 on 56/46/86 shooting

Game 6 against the Clippers, he put up 39/16/5 on 52/63/100 shooting

He had 31/14/2 in the game they lost in OT to the Spurs

I mean, dude wasn't as bad as people say he was. He showed up in big games. I feel like they would have beaten the Spurs in 6 with Ibaka healthy. They really missed him in the first 2 games of the series, where they were just completely blown out.

They won 2 out of 4 games with Ibaka playing in that series :confusedshrug:, Game 1 would have been winnable with him on the court because when Ibaka came back and they won 2 straight, Duncan had the two worst games of that Playoff run.

Lebron pretty much gets a pass in the first two rounds of the East playoffs every year while also playing the majority of his matches in the weak conference.

KD has to play teams who finish 7/8 in the West but would be top 3 in the East.

He only faced Memphis because Marc was injured for a big chunk of their regular season games, Memphis were a legit top 3 team in the West with Marc and they are on top this season with minimal roster changes...

Dallas and Phoenix in 8 and 9 would have both been 3rd seed in the East aswell...

Are we talking about RS or playoffs? Because KD was undoubtedly the best player in the world during the RS.
