I thought the were going to be in the middle of the playoff hunt. Right now they're 4-14 and looking bad. Walker and Stephenson are both shooting 36% from the field. Any other reasons besides those two sucking it up so far?

They lost McBob.

Not sure why people thought the Hornets would be good. I thought they'd be roughly the same as last year. Give it time.

They lost McBob.

This. He was a significant and understated piece for them last year. An enabler on offense with his passing ability, and a great screener.

Glad he's on the Heat, can't wait until he's healthy.

No MKG
No McBob
Poor late game execution
Defense has slipped

MKG is key to their defense

Al, Marvin, Stephenson. Not exactly a winning combination

I'm not really sure why people thought that they'd be better w Stephenson. Im not a fan and he looks lost and out of shape and just awful out there.

It seems pretty obvious now that contract-year Lance was a thing.

Pretty good reasons in the posts before mine. Gotta include the fact they have pretty horrible spacing

mcbob was the key to their (already not good) spacing with his range and passing which opened up the opponent defense.

Now their spacing is horrendous and they have 3 iso heavy players on the team (big al, kemba, stephenson) .. they are getting horrible shots and are then caught on the break, so they stop playing defense.. otherwise they're ok in the half court.

Lance was really over rated. I never understood how people saw him as a superstar

If Im right they lost 8-9 games with single digit margin, and of those 8-9 games, 3 or 4 were the losses that came in the last 30 seconds.

Their late game execution is really one of the poorest Ive seen in a long time.

When teams close out the paint, and Jefferson stops being able to do something there, they simply have no idea what to do. They need a go to guy (a successful one) in the clutch as fast as possible or it will be a wasted year for them.

I think that a guy like Rudy Gay would do wonders on this team.

Jefferson can't pass, so teams just double him in the post and the offense breaks down.

Their organizational philosophy that 3 point shooting isn't important is also killing them.

When you have a backcourt shooting 36%, then you know you're not going anywhere.

True although the Sixers went to the finals with a backcourt that shot 42% but the team was really good defensively.

Cody Zeller needs to start and have some plays drawn up for him

If he can get some confidence in his mid range game Zeller could surprise some more

His D on LA several games ago was impressive

Stephenson is overrated.
