Leading the rookies in PER. Has been great ever since Taj went down with the ankle jury. Last night he he had 11 points 12 rebounds. Will be another great player Chicago drafts once he gets more min and another year or 2 under him

If the season ended today he should be the ROTY. The best rookie by far. I'm really impressed by him. Very tough player, great rebounder, can create his own shot.

Should be starting imo to open up driving lines. Taj/Pau off the bench would be sick. Mirotic's game is the best complement to (healthy) Noah's game of all of the CHI bigs imo. Taj brings intense defense & rebounding, two areas in which Gasol can lack during games.

Mirotic is easily the softest big man that ever played in the Euroleague. If he's a "very tough player", then police are also the most likely to be indicted of all professions for killing unarmed citizens.

Against legit bigs, Gasol's aggressiveness diminishes. He's just older now and his defensive rebounding has declined. Gasol/Noah isn't an ideal pairing in comparison to Mirotic/Noah imo (factoring in offense, I should have made that more clear). Taj/Gasol complement each other nicely, though.

Crazy thing is, dude's only played 18 minutes per game
since he's been getting minutes (last 9 games), he's averaging 12/8/2 in 25 mpg with 49/40/84 from the field

Anyone have suggestions how we get Mirotic his deserved 25 minutes a game when Gibson comes back?
I'd hate to see him buried on the bench again. He's earnt the minutes now.

if you have seen play Mirotic in Euroleague, I would not call him soft, but I think he lacked motivation (specially last year).
He played great games, and then other where he did not seem to put effort into the court. He is smart, and probably knew that would not be enough to success in NBA, and probably he has been training this summer to put extra effort against tougher and more intense defenses.
But with a good attitude, he has the best skillset I have seen in a big man since young Dirk... huge potential.

Spain national team has a big problem with Ibaka and him, only one naturalized player per country and we need both to regain our leadership in Europe. Tough choice but I probably would choose Mirotic right now.

They could play Pau, Noah, Taj, and Mirotic each 24 minutes. Would keep guys more fresh during the year I suppose, but I'm not sure how that would sit with the other guys.

ibaka offers something that no one else on the national team can do
there's guys in the acb that aren't as good as mirotic but can still stretch the floor and rebound
hopefully with orenga gone, nacho martin finally gets called
i think mirotic will play for montenegro. pekovic, mirotic, vucevic, and dubljevic will be one of the best frontcourts in europe. a country of 300,000 people with that kind of talent

Knowing Thibs, he will play Gibson, Noah, and Gasol around 30 minutes a game and Mirotic will get 10 minutes or so off the bench unless he plays some minutes at the 3.

With all due respect, Pau Gasol has been a beast this season. On the boards especially. And Pau's defense at the rim and help d has been very good. I'm not here to take anything away from Taj or Niko but Pau is one of the best bigs in the league still at 34.
I don't think Mirotic would play as well starting anyway. He has been a perfect 6th/7th man so far. Niko will be a starter eventually but not this season or even next presumably.

Normally I would agree with you here but Niko has done so much in Taj's absence that Thibs will be forced to get Mirotic at least 15-20 a night at minimum and let's all remember Pau will sit out more games, as will Noah who's already on a minute restriction.
There's been plenty of stretches the last two weeks where Nikola is one of the best players on the court regardless of who else is out there. He's been that good with a mixture of shooting, rebounding, blocking, and creating with penetration.

This.
Pau will want his 26 mintes, Noah should be regulated to 24 and 20 on back to backs til Feb. at least. Taj, likes to play so 28 to 30 minutes and gets stronger as the year progresses. 20-22 minutes for Mirotic will be realistic. I really do hope they cut Noah and Pau's minutes in March. Mirotic will need to play important minutes before the playoffs.
Its funny because you can see Mirotic adapting, mentally. Its still kind of new to him but he's so skilled he can do it on the fly. Can't wait to see what he's like after the All Star break. He plays a little different, like he's left handed in his head. But he really does a lot of things well.
Not crazy that he could win ROY.
If they're smart, they'd continue to play Mirotic and develop him into a bonafied stud for the playoffs. You already know what you're gonna get from Taj.
C: Noah, Nazr (also Pau)
PF: Pau, Taj, (also Miro)
SF: Dun, McDermott, (also Miro and Butler)

I am a huge Real Madrid fan, so I was very familiar with Nikola prior to his entering the L this year. Before the start of the season, my friend had him as his ROTY pick. I agreed that he was the best rookie, but I wasn't sure he would get enough PT to win that award playing in a frontcourt featuring names such as Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, and Taj Gibson. Even that prediction drew criticism odd stares from the rest of my friends. The Gibson injury is unfortunate, but I am glad that Nikola is proving my one friend and I right because of this increased PT he is getting. Balling out just like he did with Los Blancos!

Oh, I don't disagree at all. Pau's been a fantastic signing, especially at such a reasonable number. I feel like he would murder 2nd units alongside Taj though, that's all.
Sometimes the twin towers set-up with Pau/Noah kills the spacing since driving lines get clogged. Pau's game, given his age it's kinda expected, drops off when he logs minutes against certain bigs. Can't remember which NBA writer said it, but his post up effectiveness drops off vs. good defenders. If you played more mins against 2nd units, then it'd conserve his energy and I'm not sure many teams could handle him.
The Mirotic/Gibson arrangement gets killed on the glass due to a relative lack of size, so if you were to bring Pau off the bench to help that, Mirotic imo fits better getting minutes alongside Noah b/c Noah can make up for this defensive deficiencies. Teams have a habit of playing small against line-ups featuring Mirotic and he has trouble guarding a wing guy.

I will definitely say I've seen Pau struggle a bit against good defenders. Tyson really bothered him just the other night. Best part of Pau so far has been how his "bad games" are still good. Like recently going 6-19 but finishing with 15/15 a few blocks.
I feel like Noah and Pau have really started to gel. To properly space with both of them on the court, Pau has to keep that mid range jumper wet and be ready to extend out to the 3 line. Noah has started to aggressively look for his mid range tornado jumper too.
