Dude put up nearly 20 points, and 12 assists with clutch defense and huge shots. I put him a bit lower from marc gasol, and klay since they have record going for them. If cavs hit top 5 in the east, i think lebron will surpass.

currently averaging 25pts, 7.9 apg - and just *starting* to get to know his teammates... imo he's headed towards 9+ apg. Cavs will have best offense in the league by season's end...

automatic MVP provided his team wins 55+

I don't know... when you consider the Cav's record last season... and then consider that they are seeded right now I'd put thee King at #1.

To bad the west exists.

Forget Durant & Davis, teams suck too much. Curry has Klay and vice-versa so realisticslly they're both out. Harden!? Extreme longshot.

I guess what I'm saying is, objectively speaking, it's already looking reallllly good for Lebron despite a lukewarm shooting start. Way different from last season where Durant was clearly going to get a shot.

Lest we forget, unlike western conference contenders, the Cavs were a pile of shit last season - Love is a nice plus but let's be honest, Lebron is the one revolutionizing this team atm.

No life trolls aside, everyone knows LeBron isn't going to lose the athleticism or quickness advantage until his late mid thirties. The guy is a freak of nature with no serious injuries in his entire career. He is trying to build and keyword build something new here in Cleveland and that will take some time to get the engine well oiled and running smoothly. Can LeBron win mvp this year? Quite likely. Is he still the best NBA player? By far. Want to argue with me? Not interested because I have a life and no one on nba tv or espn has said anything other than LeBron still being the best as they understand his situation in this rebuild

I like Lebron but so far he's clearly not an MVP candidate in my books. In fact I don't think I've ever seen him play worse. I know it's only 17 games into the season but it seems to me that he has already produced more turnovers than in the last 4 years together! He's been really careless with the ball and has had some problems finishing around the rim too. It almost looks like he's playing in slow-motion or something. :confusedshrug:

So he scrapes a few wins against some average to shite teams, mostly off the back of the work of his teammates, and now he's and MVP candidate. Get real.

Funny how Bron stans, with all their former love of PER, don't mention that Bron's is 24, a drop-off of 5+ points.

Honestly, Kyrie has been better throughout the winning streak.

Kyrie has been their undisputed MVP. Lebron is not even in the conversation. And his assists are getting pretty overrated. For more than half of them, his teammates should get majority of the credit for making tough, contested shots.

Obviously a troll thread. I will say this though...

The explosiveness and lift still don't seem to be there, and his jumper is inconsistent, but he's been giving 100% effort on defense the past few weeks. I don't know if he's capable of playing the level of D he did from 09-12 (and probably 13), but he's legitimately trying on that end at least.

Actually, Kyrie's defense has been on-point recently, including last night. His assist numbers would have probably been a lot better if he was able to pass to himself, since he was the only guy consistently making shots last night. Try again.

Lebron is not top 3 right now. I think he will be by the end of the season, but not now.

The top 3 is Curry, Gasol, Davis.

Players with under .500 records can't win an MVP.

Even by traditional MVP voting standard, LeBron shouldn't be top 3.

Nothing funny about it, man.

Harden is leading his weaker team (much weaker with Dwight missing almost half the games so far) in a much tougher conference to a better record, and he's better statistically.

If LeBron is a top 3 MVP right now, Kyrie is top 5. Meanwhile Harden has maybe 3 above average players on his team (Beverly, Jones and Ariza, and obviously Dwight who's been injured).

If LeBron is a top 3 MVP right now, Kyrie is top 5. Meanwhile Harden has maybe 3 above average players on his team (Beverly, Jones and Ariza, and obviously Dwight who's been injured).
Jones and Beverley have also been injured. Beverley has missed nearly 10 games. Jones has been gone since early November and may not come back until January. The Rockets have Harden, Ariza, D-Mo, Terry and a bunch of D-League level players surrounding them. We may have had an easy schedule so far, but the 14-4 record isn't a joke. We've beaten some good teams along the way, especially Memphis. We were obviously without Dwight, Jones and Beverley that game. Our backup PG, Isaiah Canaan (who is averaging 10 ppg) was gone too.

With all our early injury problems, Harden has been leading the pack. He's picked his shot up and has been playing great, averaging 25/7/6 on 58% TS. His man-to-man defense has improved tremendously and he's also averaging 2 steals and 1 block a game. Once all our injured guys come back and start playing like they did before their injury, the Rockets will look scary.
