View Full Version : Melo played like total garbage last night.

He had a bad shooting night and was playing like a scared bitch most of the 4th quarter, inbounding the ball and running off to the corner when his team needed him, until the final play when he stupidly ran the shotclock down too much and heaved up a dumb shot when Calderon drilled the rebound 3 but it was too late.
LeBron didn't play that well either but at least he got his teammates involved and wasn't playing scared in the 4th quarter.
Knicks f*cked up resigning Melo.

Melo has about as much impact as a pile of dog turds.
His main talent is scoring he's not even the best at that.

Even 2nd year Durant was better than Melo is. And then Durant went on to develop an all around game.
Watching Melo last night was pathetic though. The Knicks could have easily won that game.

Die-hard Knicks fan and I can't stand Melo. I wanted to like him, but he doesn't have "IT".
I would rather have a 40 year old Kobe than current Melo. I was hoping over the summer they would not re-sign him unless he took a minor paycut, aka still the MAX but not the SUPERMAX that he ended up getting. And now he wants us to feel sorry for him that he wanted to go to Chicago but the money wasn't there? What? No one is gonna feel bad for a guy that chose money over winning. Dude has low IQ... you're down 3 and you put up a shot at the buzzer? What? What if you miss, don't you want your team to get a chance at an offensive rebound that Shump did end up getting but time was out. F U Melo... I'm done with this guy.

But then again, he is going up against the eastern conference all-star team.He was getting crap treatment at home, too. He had 2 travels that were totally bogus, one where he faked his man in the air and drew the foul and the hopstep layup that would have put the knicks up 1. He was getting hacked like crazy when he went crashing the boards, too; which is fine, but it was completely inconsistent to the calls the Cavs were getting. But yeah, Melo played like crap also.

i hate to say it but i agree.
there is no fire in melo i'm afraid. i believe that a bona fide super star will find a way to win.
26 year old kobe had a 34 win season with the lakers, but a year later won 45 with chris mihm and smush parker in the west.

Odom put up 15 9 5 on 48% shooting that year, that is better than any of melos teammates right now.

I have no ill feelings towards you whatsoever but Melo isn't Bruce Wayne. He is way too ****in selfish. This piece of shit raped the Knicks franchise for $124 milli son. It crippled the team making other moves this past summer and will hamper the cap some next summer even though they'll have cap space.
When he asks out of NYC in 2 years or less, you realize he is not the dude you thought he was. I respect your allegiance to the Knicks but Melo punked out this summer. Would have left NY if not for the money which he values over winning. You must be able to see that.
Melo told anyone who would listen he wanted to win and he had plenty of money.
Apparently he meant that he wanted money and losing a year at the end of his prime didn't mean as much to him as we thought.

No, punking out would be leaving the knicks for greener pastures when he has unfinished business in NY. Bringing a ship to Chicago would do little for his rep, he probably wouldn't even get any credit for it, just like Bosh for Miami's ships.

He'd be at worst the second option. Noah took on such a huge role out of necessity last season. If NYK were willing to do a S&T, then he still could have gotten his money in Chicago. Butler's growth this year (which is awesome btw) is to pick up the slack when Rose isn't going all-out, understandably so.
Knicks should have taken Boozer, scraps, and both of the Bulls' picks for Melo S&T. They're likely lotto-bound anyway this year, so may as well go for the top pick.
The one caveat though is talent wants to play with talent, so Phil's hoping FAs are drawn to money, a big city, and a top scorer. Not sure that's a great plan.

If he stayed and took a REAL paycut then Id totally agree. He put the Knicks in a tough spot taking all that money.
And Melo would be the top scorer on the Bulls this year if he had signed. He would have finally been looked at as a winner again if the Bulls won a chip with him. Bosh was the 2nd or third wheel on the Heat, Melo would have been the man in Chicago.
Remember how much shit ppl use to talk about Dirk before he shut everyone up and won his chip?
Melo could have been in a great position to do the same bc winning trumps everything.

In what world are any of these guys going to be "looked at" better scoring options than Anthony coming into this season ?
Rose has missed so many games and wasn't going to be the scoring option he was in his rookie year. Butler and Noah... :facepalm

I really understood how garbage Melo was back in 2008. He's never given me any reason to change my opinion. He is a horrible defender. I would want Portland to trade him immediately if he came here. I'd make him a back up to Batum. His only role on a winning team should be scoring off the bench.
You will never ever win a championship with this guy as a leader. It's never going to happen. I would be anything on it.

Bosh was a constant in Miami. Either Wade was out and Bosh was 2nd option or he had plenty of games when he played well enough to be the 2nd option.

My dude, I know the numbers. When 129 is the ceiling and you take just 5 off that, broken down by his yearly salary, it's hardly a pay cut. Even if he took 115 for the better of the franchise, I would give him some credit.
He Joe Johnsoned the Knicks.

Melo wanted no part of Thibs' defensive style, plain and simple. He's reached the point of contentment. He's had a nice career, made millions in the process, and will one day be in the HOF. That's not to say he doesn't WANT to win a title, but it's not a top priority. If it was he'd be a Bull.

The NYK fan I quoted was pissed because he said that Melo took the SUPER MAX deal. All I did was show that he didn't.
It's a not a huge discount, but at the end of the day it's still a discount.
