View Full Version : What do you guys think of Blatt's timeout last night?

Called right before Kyrie's shot towards the end of the game. Maybe 20 some seconds left, 12 on the shot clock I believe. Cavs have a one point lead. Kyrie looked upset when Blatt called it, and said something to him.

So they had the lead, Kyrie had the ball. Calderon was covering him. After the timeout, they have Shumpert on Kyrie, which is a good move by the Knicks.

So what do you guys think? It's easy to say in hindsight that Blatt was right, but I would disagree with that. I think you're better having Kyrie go at Calderon, or LeBron go at Melo, vs. having either of those guys go at Shumpert. I also think they had the momentum by getting a stop on the other end, and that's a good spot to score. I think Popovich will let his team play out these situations instead of calling time, right?

Kyrie's shot was great, but tough. Hard angle off the backboard, but Kyrie's a great finisher.

All I know is that Kyrie and Bron were pissed as ****k about that TO and they let it be known.

This. If LeBald got the ball who knows what would've happened, but Cavs would've lost thats for certain. Good call by Blatt.

Knicks just got down the court and still getting into their defensive set: it was a perfect chance for Kyrie to attack. And Blatt waited a long time after Kyrie had already crossed halfcourt to call that timeout. He should have decided when his team was on D whether he was going to call timeout if a stop occurred. The worst was after the timeout he didn't even come up with anything. It was iso Irving and Irving made a great play that covered up the mistakes of a bad coach.

this thread isn't about Bron. Are you guys completely incapable of discussing something without bringing up your man crush?

Apparently, Blatt said something like "Kyrie is a better player than he is a coach."

Dumb idea to say that. Don't want to create a rift between you and your players

Typical European over-coaching.

Yeah. They mentioned it on ESPN

"Kyrie's doing a lot better when he's playing than when he's coaching," Blatt said afterward with a sly smile on his face recalling Irving's reaction.
