Can't wait for the media to eat this up and for the race-baiters to come out swinging in full force. The sheeple will eat this one as well.
the officer responded Tuesday to reports of someone selling drugs out of a Cadillac SUV. Upon locating the SUV, he ordered Brisbon, the sole occupant, to show his hands.
Authorities say Brisbon ran inside an apartment building and then got into a struggle with the officer. Brisbon put his hand in his pocket, and when the officer grabbed the hand, he thought he felt the handle of a gun through Brisbon's pants, police said.
Police say the officer repeatedly told Brisbon to keep his hand in his pocket, then shot him twice when he didn't.
Brisbon, an ex-convict, was hit in the torso and later pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered a semi-automatic handgun and a jar of marijuana from his SUV.

At this point I don't care.
They need to go away from the narrative of "unarmed black man" and instead focus on the narrative of are these police officers overstepping themselves in these situations?
This particular one. Eh. Struggle, and guy gets shot.
But this doesn't change the fact that people are just flat out tired of police officers.
If some of you don't understand why then I don't know wtf to say anymore.

Each and every case should always be evaluated on its individual merits. the faults of one are not the faults of others.
Out of all the current cases only Akai gurley's death should result in a conviction against the police officer IMO. Whether you believe me or not it is my honest opinion that I would feel the same way if these guys that died were white.
In fact ISH had a case of a white guy getting shot and killed for reaching into his pants a few days ago. IIRC He was being arrested and running away and reached into his pants. Cop killed him and IIRC he was unarmed. I dont think that the cop overstepped his bounds.
Eric Garner did not deserve to die. Based on what I know he seems like overall a good decent person. His crimes were very petty crimes. Stuff like unlicensed sell of loose cigarettes. stuff that should have result in fines.
As I have discussed previously, I strongly believe we as citizens have to comply with the commands of law enforcement. Cops are tools of the state. The execute laws that are written/executed by politicians either democratically elected or appointed by a democratically elected politician. I think cops need the right to take down physically large males. Based on my viewing of the tape Garner resisted arrest and the cops werent physically strong enough to arrest him without taking him down.
If you feel the cops have mistreated you then you pursue legal remedies after you are arrested. File a complaint, get his badge number, sue the cop, sue the state.
Based on my viewing of the video tape I dont think the cops used lethal force. Obviously garner died which was a lethal result. But I dont think techniques used on him would kill in the vast majority of instances. it sucks saying this, but in my opinion Garner's cardiovascular health contributed to his death.
its like flagrant fouls, sometimes you foul a guy in a perfectly normal way but he falls in a way that makes it look much worse and it does damage to him. (its not the best analogy given the seriousness of the case, but I couldnt come up with a better way to express that IMO the cops took down Garner in a way that wouldnt kill most people)
What could have changed my opinion that it was murder:
1. if Garner had not resisted arrest at all and yet the cops still took him down like that.
2. If cops had bludgeoned him with batons, punched him out, stomped/kicked him, shot him, etc.
I honestly think my view of this would be unchanged if Garner were white.
Tamir Rice once again tragic he died. actually very tragic as he was just a kid. only 12 years old
http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/26/justice/cleveland-police-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t3
based on this audio the dispatcher is mostly at fault imo.
Dispatcher: Everybody's tied up with priorities, there's a guy sitting on a swing pointing a gun at people
Dispatcher: In the park by the youth center, is a black male sitting on a swing. He's wearing a camouflage hat, a grey jacket, with black sleeves, said he keeps pulling a gun out of his pants and pointing it at people
Also minor fault goes to the guy that called it in. If you think its probably a fake gun, you shouldnt call it in. Also IIRC the caller describes the 12 year old as a "guy" and doesn't identify Rice as a kid or a 12 year old.
Caller: I'm sitting in the park at West Boulevard by The West Boulevard Rapid Transit Station. And there's a guy in here with a pistol, and it's probably a fake one, but he's pointing it at everybody.
Caller: The guy keeps pulling it in and out ... it's probably fake, but you know what, he's scaring the shit out of people.
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a558/sirkee318/cleveland-police-officer-shoots-12-year-old-boy-04600e4e02eb25eb_zps111bed3f.jpg
picture of the pellet gun
According to the cops the rookie got out of the car and yelled "hands up!!" and (to him) Rice was reaching for the gun.
after the shooting
Police Officer: Radio, Shots Fired. Male down. Black male. Maybe 20 (he guessed Rice's age). Black revolver, or black handgun. Send EMS this way.
This case is tragic, and caused primarily by too false assumptions, IMO that was in large part the cops were primed to believe by the dispatcher.
1. That the gun was real. (go listen to what the dispatcher told the cop, look at the actual pellet gun)
2. the suspect was describe as a black guy/male, never as a kid.
The cop seemed to believe that he was dealing with a 20 year old black male that was point a gun randomly at people in the park and was primed to believe that by the dispatcher.
I wouldnt convict the cop in this case. I do feel rice's family is owed a sizeable wrongful death settlement from the state, same with Garner's family. I honestly think if Rice was white I would have the same beliefs.
Mike Brown If I am being honest (no reason not to its an anonymous forum) I dont feel that bad Brown died. The type of guy that robs and bullies store clerks as shown in the video is not a person I would have a lot of sympathy for. If Brown were white, I would probably feel more comfortable to say worse things about him.
That aside the cop still had no right to kill brown based on that.
I feel the evidence supported wilson.
I honestly dont understand the benefit of the doubt give to Johnson and Brown. Was that video fake? Is it that hard to believe the violent guy in the video threatening the store clerk half his size, assaulted the officer?
How did browns blood get on Wilson? How did brown's blood get on the interior of the car door panel? Wouldnt that mean that at one point the bullet impacted on Brown while he was inside the police vehicle? to splatter blood on the interior of the door panel?
What makes more sense the cop, while seated in his car pulled Brown (6'4 290+ pounds) into the car to shoot him?
Or Brown attacked wilson and was shot while he was inside the car attacking wilson?
The blood on the interior of the door panel is a big deal imo. I dont see it at all as logical for wilson to pull brown into to the car to shoot him. Guns are ranged weapons and if wilson wanted to initiate he would have just shot brown imo.
Secondly what about all the reports brown was shot in the back from eyewitnesses until the autopsy confirmed only shots entered from the front? was Wilson just that lucky?
Thirdly what about the eyewitness that claimed Wilson shot brown while standing over him? totally not supported by the forensic evidence.
What about the eyewitnesses that claimed that brown did charge at wilson? why would they in a community that has problems with cops lie for wilson?
At the very least this case was impossible to get a conviction on. IMO the evidence points towards the cops version.

I'm so glad I don't live in America. Seriously.
You have racism almost at the forefront of your problems in freaking 2014, and a community and attitude that almost forces you to pick a side to be on.
So many other countries are able to work past it for the most part. Not saying racism isn't around in other countries, because you do see it here and there, but people aren't killing each other and rioting as freely as over there as compared to in America.

Cops are constantly over reaching. If you have a militarized police that views civilians as enemies and not a community they should be serving, the knee jerk reaction which leads to excessive force is the norm and not the exception.
Even in the Tamir case (a case that seems clear cut), the cops could of taken different measures to resolve the situation. They could of approached the kid with their sirens on. They could of parked far enough, shield themselves, draw their guns, and ask him to surrender considering he is a kid and the caller said it was a fake gun.
The problem is not these guys are hooligans, smoke weed, and that they resisted arrest, the real problem is the excessive measures taken that are making the police look like nothing more than a bunch of amateurs treating the streets like the wild west.

How was I being dishonest? He didn't have a weapon. The cop f*cked up and shot a guy without a gun. He over reached again. Just calling it for what it is. This happens when dumba*s cops go all gung ho thinking they are in the wild west.
You're just being shallow and not seeing the bigger picture. The militarization of the police force has made these cops lethal killers instead of actual cops whose role is to diffuse the situation before they draw their guns and start blazing away when someone doesn't comply to them.

This country is probably 20% racist, down from what it used to be in the 50's and 60's. The Liberal media is painting a narrative that the country is more racist than ever because it means $$$ for all these new outlets. Victimization is the new thing nowadays and everybody seems to be a victim. Combine that with having a Black President in office who has been more of a racial and political divider than ever before, then I'd say being only 20% racist is pretty damn good.
Blacks and minorities have more opportunity in this country today than ever before. So I laugh when someone says we have a "race" problem in this country. Foolish, foolish people.

Race isn't at the forefront of our problems it's at the forefront of the media
Your biggest problem is every living thing on your shit island can and probably will kill you. That's a really fvkin dum problem
Literally what I said in my post, hence the "community" line.
Negged again for a terrible post.

At this point I don't care.
They need to go away from the narrative of "unarmed black man" and instead focus on the narrative of are these police officers overstepping themselves in these situations?
This particular one. Eh. Struggle, and guy gets shot.
But this doesn't change the fact that people are just flat out tired of white police officers.
If some of you don't understand why then I don't know wtf to say anymore.
fixed in bold
most people on my FB feed are not anti-cop when I get to talking to them... they're mostly anti-white cops and anti-white politicians
the race baiting of the last 2 years and sensationalism in the media is doing us all a disservice.

so tonight is whats called first friday, and downtown closes off some streets and it is a big art and music festival that happens the first friday of every moth. It is hipster central, and I guess there were a army of cops in riot gear storming the streets. I'm not there but my buddy sent me video, they are just making things worse.
Was planning to go then realized i hate hipsters so i didn't make it. Glad. Those cops at first friday are assholes tho, they'll yell at you if you walk anywhere they dont want you to (its the ****ing street first friday or not)

Hindsight is 20/20
I agree and wish that the cops did a bunch of things differently.

agreed. that would have been a thousand times more preferable. i wouldnt be opposed to both of these cops being fired. Im not sure they should go to jail for this situation though. Also rice's and garner's families deserve large civil settlements from the cities of NY and Ohio.
considering he is a kid and the caller said it was a fake gun.
Please listen to the actual radio recordings.

Although the civilian caller said this it was never relayed by the dispatcher to the responding cops. The original caller that dials 911 never speaks with officers on patrol. they give the info to dispatchers who must transfer that info to the cops.
The caller also never definitively says the gun is fake. 2 times the caller says he thinks its probably fake. But he never says its for sure a fake gun.
Further neither the original caller or the dispatcher ever describe tamir rice as a kid. If you listen to the dispatcher the cops were primed into think they were entering a very dangerous situation. which might explain why the drove so close to the suspect and why they were so quick to fire. I think I would have been similarly psyched up by the dispatcher's message.
The dispatcher never says it might be a fake gun or that the suspect is not an adult.
Since of speaking logic... where's the logic for a 12 year old to pull a BB gun on a cop unless the cop asked him about it to begin with?
Funny how you didn't mention that in your post. Its called selective reasoning
the video is very low resolution and extremely low frame rate but watch at about 2:58

It looks to me like rice reached to his waist.
IDK why that happened but its kind of on tape.
If I had to guess I would guess he was trying to show the cops it wasnt a real gun.

I will say this.
The cop that killed Akai Gurley should be charged with some form of either negligent homicide or manslaughter. And imo should be convicted based on what I know right now.
If nothing in the fact pattern know publically changes and the cop isnt charged and eventually convicted that would be imo the first injustice of all of these cases.
The Phoenix shooting is tied with the Mike Brown shooting as the most justified of all of these shootings
