He talked about going with a different lineup from now on which is a good idea. I'm not going to debate which players he should use (more) but if I were him, I'd certainly give Kobe a lot more rest in the second half.

If you watch Laker games (and not only box scores) you should realize Kobe actually has a decent FG% in the first halves and going really bad in the second halves. I think it's due to fatigue and not having his legs. He ither is not capable of playing this many minutes or it takes more time for him to get back into shape after being injured twice in a row. I don't know which is the case, but at any rate: the Lakers are not winning a lot of games using Kobe this much w/o rest. So he either should sit more in the 2nd quarter and not start in the third or he should start in the third but play only 3-4 minutes w/o much shooting and rest the rest of the 3rd to be (relatively) fresh in th 4th.

What do you guys think. (Actually I'm asking those who watch the games and not just the scoreboard. Haters are welcome as long as they are watching games.)

I give Ed Davis the starting spot, make him take on a bigger role and live with the results.

Kobe is logging too many minutes. Should only play about 5-6 minutes in the 3rd then rest for the 4th

but team will get blown

It is worth at least a try. What we know for sure is they are getting blown playing the way they are playing rigth now.

No matter what you do, that roster isn't making the playoffs in the West.

I would see if any of the younger players are worth keeping for the future.

I agree on them not making the playoffs. However, it'd be nice to see them putting up a much better effort. Anf for those who are concerned with Bryan'a points, I think he would't score any less with 7-8 minutes more rest. His FG% would go up in the 2nd half of games.

Stop playing Jeremy Lin. He's not part of the future and Lakers owe him nothing. Let's see what Clarkson can do.

Lin & Boozer need to be benches in favor of Davis & Young.

Kobe
Young
Wes
Hill
Davis

More defense & more fire power on offense

Starting line up
Price
Young
Kobe
Davis
Hill

Bench:
Lin
Ellington
Wes
Boozer
Sacre

Both line-ups can compete, starting line-up has at least serviceable interior D and bench can score pretty good.

Let Kobe play 10 in the first quarter, 3-4 in the second quarter, 10 in 3rd and 10 in 4th Q.
You get 33 minutes of Kobe and because he doesn't play much in 2nd Q, he has the energy to still be effective in the clutch

Are Lakers fan this naive? Kobe's logging that many minutes because he WANTS to play that many minutes. The coaches in LA have no say in what he does on the court. Kobe has more power over the team than Scott(who's only role is to act as a scape goat for Kobe's failures). LA sure as hell didn't hire Byron for his coaching pedigree.

It makes sense. On the other hand: Kobe should give it a try. 30-33 minutes is absolutely fine. I don't think he cares that much about minutes. He cares about points and touches when he is on the court. With less minutes he would be more effective.

Instead of a 9-23 shooting night due to fatigue he could have a 10-21 shooting night. Two less FT due to less minutes, same average as is now while being more effective. (This would give his team an extra 4-5 points and perhaps also resulting in Kobe being more clutch in the 4th.)

If I were Scott, I'd try to convince #24.

Scott has actually addressed this within the last week... trying now to play him less in the first half, a longer break in the 3rd quarter so he'll be fresher down the stretch

a lot of is the time off and Kobe not being able to work out as he normally would have... Kobe himself has said the rest of basically a year off will do him good in the long run but it's taking him time to build himself back up...

the injuries took it out of him, but i'll say he looks better now than he did at the start of the season.. he was pretty damn rusty out there and the miles showed but he seems to be sorting out how much he can play and how much effort he can give...

Why not? He said last season he could have came back and played if needed but there was no point bc the team was going nowhere.

The injury last season wasnt that serious. Youre telling me between sitting out the season and having all off season healthy he couldnt even keep himself in shape? Mr-maniacal-dedication Kobe?
