View Full Version : What's your best offer for J-Smoove

There's my 2 best offers:

Josh Smith for Lance Stephenson (The Hornets want a PF and the Lance experiment didn't work well... he would fit better with the Pistons)

Josh Smith for Derrick Williams + Jason Thompson (a rumor since last summer I think... D-Will could start at SF and Thompson would backup Dre and Moose. But I'm not sure 1 ball is enough for Gay Cousins and Smith)

:confusedshrug:

Do you have something better?

Not sure he's worth the meal. Maybe I would toss in hash browns. Maybe.

No chance Kings trade JT he's actually turned for the first time in his career into a important player cause of his defense in the post, only trade Kings should consider is Landry/Williams and play Smith as the back up PF or defensive SF on the like of Lenoard/LeBron/Melo/KD when Rudy is getting torched or out of the game.

I would prefer Javale McGee and his contract over Smith at this point also. The problem with Smith playing in the West as a starter is he would get ****ing destroyed against the majority of the PF's aside from Faried/Terrance Jones I can't really think another player he could contain.

good trade and he'd work great with bargnani and melo

i'll add you three more:
1) smith for waiters+filler+trade exception
CAVS get a defensive big to play down (great spacing on the cavs)
DETROIT gets talent in the backcourt while freeing up space for drummond plus some cap relief.

2) dragic for smith
DETROIT gets a great player in dragic(who wants out of phx), he would do great with the pistons bigs, since he'd be the only nba caliber pg on that team. fck jennings btw.
SUNS free up the PG position and get smith on a fast pace west team, plus prevent potential drama in the lockerroom.

3) smith for louis williams and landry fields
RAPS get much needed depth in the frontcourt while freeing up a crowded backcourt (terrence ross and bruno get more PT) while losing very little in the process.
DETROIT gets ALOT of cap relief.

imo josh smith is underrated (not talking about salary, but about ingame value). If you let him play his position (rim attacking PF) he is very decent.

that's talking out of your ass.
have you even watched him play? sure his offensive game from beyond 6 feet is inexistent but his post defense, perimeter help, pnr defense and man defense are all excellent/good and he rebounds decently. He'd do ok in the proper context.

He would get backed down and raped playing in the West as a starter. He misses rotations on defense all the time as well. Like I said I would want Smith on the team just not starting next to Cuz. If he would accept a 6th man role he'd be great that way imo. I'm not saying he's not a starter (based on talent he clearly is) but it would not be a good fit him starting.

I don't think he would accept being ordered not to shoot outside of 14 ft so I wouldn't want him, period.

I call bullshit on that. Who'd back him down in the west, at PF?
griffin? (yeah, strong as fck)
zbo? (yeah, Z-BO!)
dirk? (no, btw smith is a great dirk defender)
lee? (no)
montejunas?(no)
davis?(no)
aldridge? (no)
faried? (no)
anthony bennet? (no)
ibaka? (no, doesn't post up)
derrick favors? (maybe, he is a strong dude)
jordan hill/boozer ? (lol)
tim duncan? (yes)

Besides zbo and griffin that post up centers on the regular and duncan (skill) I don't see a name that would do it to josh smith regularly.

and wouldn't you miss rotations on that disaster of a team that detroit put ? You are underrating his defense, he has been very good in alot of advanced metrics and on eye test. His talents are unused on that team and he is asked to play a stretch role that only gets the worst out of him.

Considering his contract, the Blazers would need extra compensation for taking Smith.

Trading him for Stephenson doesn't accomplish much because you just end up getting another bonehead in return. Stephenson plays within himself a little better but that isn't saying much.

Smith is fools good. If Detroit could get a team to bite by thinking "Oh, he isn't THAT bad in the proper context..", they might even be able to get more for him in return than they should.

Amare's not what he once was, but he's playing well and does a great job of scoring, rebounding, and playing with energy. I'd pull the trigger on that trade.

If they could get anything from Denver (Mozgov, Chandler or Afflalo) - ANY of them would help this dumpster fire of a team.

His talents are unused on that team and he is asked to play a stretch role that only gets the worst out of him.I don't know how Smith would respond on a very good team, but from the decision-making skills I've seen during his time in Detroit, it's tough (though not impossible) for me to imagine him ridding of all the stupid things he does.

You're right, statistically, there's a number of facets he registers well with. But I feel that's greatly contradicted by the proverbial eye test. He frequently nullifies virtually every good thing he brings to the table. Sometimes it's amazing to see his post-game box scores because it's like "How'd he pull 16, 7, and 5? He looked like the worst player out there."

He's up there amongst the weirdest players I've ever watched. Usually the type of guys like him, who insist on over-dribbling before throwing the ball away with a horrible pass, and shooting ill-timed three pointers even though they're awful shooters - usually those guys fit a lazy type of mold where they also don't provide much elsewhere. But Smith does do other things well; I just wonder if, now in his 11th season, he could ever knock out the stupidity.

Noooooooooooo!

I would genuinely be devastated if the Raps ever conceded to bringing in Smoove. I can't stand his game and his incessant inability to not 'get it'. In this particular scenerio, Lou has been an absolute stud off the bench and playing at a level that might grant him 6moty recognition. So thanks but no thanks.

And you're right. He does have an underrated aura to him but he's just too stupid to ever 'get it' as already started. He's the type of player that regardless of how many times you tell him not to shoot the long ball, he'll always find a way to try and look like Peja. Don't want this dude anywhere near my organization and especially not at his price tag.

The pen in my pocket. It still has ink and has a sleek, compact, aesthetic design which features a lid with pocket clip. It is a translucent dark grey colour. It can hit jump shots at the same rate as Smith and has a comparable basketball IQ.

Would be a great fit @ pf for the Knicks.

Wish amare for smith and jerebko was possible. Maybe either thanasis, Larkin, or 2nds would be enough?

Then

B knight and illyasova & 2nd
For
Hardaway jr, dalembert, Larkin, thanasis (if one doesn't go to Detroit)

Calderon/knight/prigioni
Smith/shumpert/cleanthony
Carmelo/wear
Smith/illyasova/acy/jerebko
Bargnani/smith/Aldrich

There's no way I'd even take him for free with him getting 28 mil over the next two years. Lakers would ruin any chance of getting a big time player in FA for at least the next season. Smith and Kobe would make a 39 million combined next year
