View Full Version : Should the Lakers go after JR Smith when Kobe retires?

Seems like a natural succession to the throne. The fans in LA value a "show" moreso than good basketball and JR Smith is definitely at least interesting.

Plus, he'll prob only charge half of what Kobe currently is.

Good fit?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to a great discussion.

They should get him before Kobe retires. He would make for an excellent scapegoat.

Yes! I really like the way J.R. Smith plays. He has never seen a shot he doesn't like, just like his idol, Kobe. He even said so in a recent interview. "I've never seen a shot I don't like, just like my idol, Kobe" -- J.R. Smith

I already put J.R. in my "players to watch (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9464520)" list (alongside Jamal Crawford). I have an eye for talent, specifically for the kind of "chucking with no remorse" from Kobe's signature collection. Many have tried, but few have the stamina to pull it off. Mr. Smith may be the exception to the rule!

This will be quite easy...

Kobe vs Jr Smith (playoffs) 10 games...

Kobe: 33.8 ppg, 6 apg, 5.6 rpg, 1.1 spg, 0.9 bpg, 48.9 FG%

Jr Smith: 14.9 ppg, 2.7 apg, 2.6 rpg, 1 spg, 0.2 bpg, 44.1 FG%

They already have Nick Young so JR's even DUMBER ass would be redundant.

Swagy P my homie so I'm not doggin him but they fill the same role basically.

Keep the LA kid.

Haha, me too, thread's pretty dumb even by op's standards, but you know how it is with Kobe. No player causes more feels than him.
