I agree with Bless Matthews that fashion models aren't really the epitome of beauty. They are selected as models because their looks are captivating and aesthetically pleasing in some way, but not in a sexual way. And indeed, their looks are mostly supposed to appeal to women and gay men. It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive, some models are hot, but that's not the reason they are fashion models.
