The Hollywood is doing those just because the demographics nowadays grew up with comics and shits so it is easier to sell. Fair enough.

I'm indifferent about it though.

Also bc people are more inclined to go to the theater these days to see movies with lots of special effects. Everything else theyll just download illegally and watch on their laptop.

Filesharing has basically killed the quality of mainstream music and film.

Im tired of that shit. But the masses eat it up so they will keep pumping them out. Little creativity left in Hollywood these days.

They are boring. Just for little kids and nerds I think. Last one I watched was the Incredibles and I was like 14 lol.

I was getting tired of them until The Winter Soldier. The movie worked on every level and didn't even need the superhero element to make it great.

This may be partly true but the other part is that theres very little market for creativity amongst the public. Too many people will just steal movies if theyre not specifically designed for theater experience. Studios arent gonna take risks if theres no financial payoff. So it is what it is.

I like superheroes movies but these last movies that were released by DC and Marvel just sucks. I wish they would release some interesting ones like fables.

Seems like it.

Watched winter soldier today and thought the same. Excited for the DC slate though because they are less boring than the Marvel ones in terms of how the stories and characters are written. Less black and white, superhero fights the bad guy stuff.

Superman was good if you saw it as a 80's action movie. Lots of destruction after the first 1/3 of the movie.

See Watchmen.

Great film... such a breathe of fresh air although it was before the huge influx of superhero movies.

But no I'm not sick of them. Effects are amazing, they are entertaining, and while not all of them hit, every now and then you get one like the X Men days of future past that does a great job of intertwining some interesting topics into a superhero movie. Nolan set the bar with batman turning superhero films upside down and it's really helped raise the bar.

The same people who got up and watched Saturday morning cartoons will watch this shit. It's a nostalgia thing I guess.

Just put in a 100 million budget, a star, a few one liners, and CGI explosions and people will watch.

It's a brand at this point and I doubt most people will be tired of them anytime soon. The actors will, however, and I can see this being the downfall of the comic book film.

The green lantern animated series (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1724587/) from a few years back wasn't half bad. Too bad it was cancelled. :(

I'm concerned more of Hollywood making movies based on manga/anime in which the trend could go up if they run out of comics source.

Remember Dragonball Evolution? Ugh.....

Edge of Tomorrow, which is based on All You Need Is Kill, is surprisingly okay though.

Soon, Scarlett Johansson as Major Kusanagi Motoko in Hollywood version of Ghost in the Shell. Ugh?

Yeah at least w/ DC, you get more realistic and plausible story lines. Batman Begins and TDK shit on basically every "superohero" movie, ever.

pretty sure comics were a bigger part of american culture in the generations of kids in the 50s-70s.

Yeah, I dont care about them. Never have. Seen a couple and they were all hohum, CGI driven, limited plot development, etc

Don't mind them, but I can see SH movie fatigue setting in relatively soon. I think the Studios are milking the thing to a ridiculous extent... where they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for characters no one has ever heard of. Guardians of the Galaxy was a nice surprise, but who the f*ck is honestly excited about 'Ant Man'? :confusedshrug:

I think comic fans are a rabid and loyal base and the studios have realized they'll shell out absurd amounts of money for anything with the label 'Marvel' or even 'Disney' slapped on it. DC, not so much outside of Batman and to a lesser extent Superman. But we'll see if that changes with their planned Avengers copy cat plan.

I watched it the other night and it sucked ass, as a non comic reader I loved Batman Begins and TDK though. X-Men has a couple of good movies too.
