View Full Version : Klove kind of a douche

brought my son to the nets/cavs game, sat about 3 rows from the court. observations:

anderson varejao, waiters were both like the nicest dudes ever. signed for kids, took pictures. lebron signed too but more begrudgingly. Kyrie wouldn't sign my kid's lebron jersey but signed his hat.

Kevin Love both before and after the game looked straight ahead and basically ignored every kid there. not even half assed high fives. I love him as a player but seems kinda douchey. that is all.

also, lebron looks a step slower and just doesn't have the same lift he did 2-3 years ago. he can turn it on when he needs to but not the whole game, maybe not even half the game.

agreed, but seems like he went out of his way to be a ****. not like it was a hostile crowd everyone was there for the cavs. we weren't even looking for an autograph but when you've won by 20 might be nice to sign for some 5 year olds. lebron managed to.

Bit rough to call him a douche on this one occasion alone. Who knows, he might have had a bad day and just didn't feel like interacting with fans, just wanted to get the game over with.

This isnt the first account of Love being a bit of a self absorbed prick. That report has been out on him basically since he came into the league. Not just as it relates to autographs either, just his general demeanor. Hes not outwardly obnoxious so it doesnt get as much notice but theres been some reporting that on a personal level hes kind of a douche.

kunk75
12-10-2014, 09:54 PM
true, probably a bit excessive but he was the only player who seemed disinterested. i know he does charity and all but friends from minnesota had similar things to say.

really? i think it's the least they can do. i think resellers ruin it. there was a guy with like 50 new with tags jerseys to get signed probably ruining it for everyone.
players act awfully entitled, they should understand.

This is true, ESPECIALLY out in public during a players off time, but like OP said if youre basically at the arena and on the clock, getting paid with fans money, and your team is up by 20, why shun the kids? Do it for the kids. Make Love to a young child be an example of a good role model. Of course he doesnt HAVE to. But if he doesnt, everyone can rightfully call him a douche.

considering the whole sport is predicated off the value people put on it as ENTERTAINMENT, I'd say there's millions of rea$ons for them to at least acknowledge the fans.

i'd never bother or let my kids bother someone at dinner, at a concert, whatever but i think the point i was making is what you articulated. dirk signs everything, even melo is a pretty good signer. some guys just get it.

Magic Johnson was notorious for not signing anything for kids and totally ignoring them. I've seen it in person but this was after games. I've seen Charles Barkley sat parked in his Bronco coming out from the parking garage and holding up all exiting traffic from the garage sit there and sign every autograph u until there was no one left. It took about 30 minutes. K Love very well may be a douche but I've seen lots of players do that when they are on the court and I don't care that much about that because maybe some guys wanna focus and not be distracted. After games and stuff is when it counts to me. Magic was one of the biggest offenders and was extremely prickish. His public persona and how he carried himself when the cameras were off were very different. This was pre HIV tho tbh so maybe he's different now. At least w MJ everyone knew he was a prick haha.

Yea I agree. Well, I think taking times for the kids is important.

But grown men? Asking for pictures, high fives, or especially autographs? Yea, that athlete doesn't owe you jack squat. No grown man wants an autograph from an athlete anyway unless they attempt to make money off it second hand. I'm sure these guys know this, and I personally would be pissed knowing someone would be making money directly off my signature and I'm not getting a cut.

As it pertains to Kyrie not signing LeBron's jersey? That makes entire sense. He's not LeBron. It makes sense he would sign a Cavs hat. He still took the time to do it.

Anyway, nice of OP to take his son to the game. Always enjoyed those experiences with my father.

yes, a grown ass man looking for a high five or wearing jerseys with other guys names always seems sad. there was a guy with 40 jerseys with tags and security wanted the players to ignore him. i get the kyrie thing, he is a class act. sat next to our friends in the bahamas and signed a ton of stuff and chatted with the kids, even gave the dad some chips for the casino.

and the game was a lot of fun. i have 2 seats so can only bring one kid at a time. trying to bring them to see all their favorites. macs, raptors and pelicans are next and hoping to see the ghost of kobe while we can. i was lucky enough to see jordan 4-5 times when i was a kid.

I kid u not he really is this dude did not even look my way or acknowledge me when i called out his stupid name like three times back in 2011 ALL STAR game held in Los Angeles.
They all came to the fox hills mall in LA to sign and hang out with the fans and i got shannon browns signature and shook his hand and saw D Wade, Brandon Jennings. But yet this a hole thinks he is hot sh@t when he clearly is not. :biggums:
Dude pissed me off.

Where do you get this from? It's a myth.

Wait, that ONE Chamillionaire video, where he cries, bitches and moans of older MJ drunk at a club, hunting presumably for women and not wanting to be bothered to take a pic with a no talent clown masquerading as a musician?

No one ever considered MJ an asshole, especially in Chicago land. Besides his intimidating on the court demeanor as a fierce competitor in practice, or games. In life? He was extremely gregarious with fans, kids, and charities.

Scottie Pippen, the guy teammates claimed was so nice, etc. He's the one who is the actual asshole by all accounts in real life. Countless people in Chicago land can vouch to this.

I do think it's funny that Barkley was protrayed in media as a bad guy, not wanting to be a role model, loud mouth ... ugly, and a bully. Yet outside the game he's very nice. My g/f and her friend met him in an elevator in Vegas, they say he was friendly.

Meanwhile the public was all over Magic's D, his smile, his sociability, everything I've heard otherwise says Johnson was a grade A self consumed asshole. His entire persona was a fraud, a fake put on for the public. Two faced.

Meanwhile LeBron even for the crap we give him for his basketball cowardice is a nice guy on and off the court.

This has always baffled me. Barkley is one of the nicest dudes to ever play in the NBA. Seems like a legitimately great guy. I don't know, I guess people just take his playful banter too seriously.

And yeah, totally agree about Magic being a scumbag.

What I meant Is that MJ Was prickish on the court and didn't hide it. He had a win at all costs attitude and didn't pretend to be any other way. He carried himself like a prick not a total asshole necessarily just like a guy who was business. I was using him as an example because he didn't try to hide it.

Yes of course Pip was known as one of the worst. He was supposedly the worst guy at restaurants and the worst tipper. With a lot of athletes they are either stingy as fvck when it comes to tipping or they over tip. Anyway, yeah Pip is a notorious asshole.

And yeah Magic had to be one of the biggest offenders in terms of superstar guys. I have heard stories (from a guy who would never exaggerate or make it up) of him like totally being a prick to kids and dissing them hard. To the point of moving their hands out of the way when they were trying to hand him something to sign. I saw him titally blow off everyone in person. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to sign anything. You can be nice and refuse to sign or refuse a picture and that's totally cool. But you can also be a dick. He's a dick. Or at least he was 20 years ago when I saw him do it.

Barkley is kind of a what you see is what you get guy. He will buy anyone a drink and have a conversation with anyone. Hes easy going and will put up with a bunch of shit. He'll also toss you through a window if you're messing with him. But he's a rare breed. He's about as sociable and genuine as can be. He's easlily one of the most accessible stars ever. It's comical you have nobodies in the NBA who roll with entourages and then you have one of the biggest stars ever who just goes out wih his friends and chills.

I've seen LeBron at KOP mall before in his second season. He was with Maverick and some other dudes. I didn't say what's up but he seemed normal. Not over my personable but not a dick. His crew looked like a bunch of *****.

Edit: Shaq is also a notorious jerk. For instance, years ago when that moron Jessie James had some dumb motorcycle show on discovery or whatever he built Shaq some insane custom bike that was $90,000 I believe and never paid for it.

Rodman did the same thing. Another tattooist I know (who is an old school super nice guy and was huge in LA) tattooed Rodman on camera when Rodman had some stupid TV show. Rodman wouldn't and didn't oay that guy either. It's a shame because the dude is the nicest dude you'll ever meet.
