So I am getting into Server managements. What are pros and cons of windows 2008?

Thank you

Not really a server guy, but from an admin's POV, it's the cheapest version of Microsoft's suite that's still going to be supported at the end of next year. Most software is going to work with it, as I'm pretty sure the 2008r2 suite is still the most used, at least based on the environments I've seen. I find it easier to navigate than Server 2012 as well. AD is ridiculously simple to maintain from a management point of view, especially in conjunction with Exchange.

I'd kill for Exchange right now. I'm maintaining a network for a client that LOVES IBM products, and Lotus Notes makes me want to blow my brains out.

Anyway... what are you looking for? Cheapest solution possible? Most feature-filled?

Server 2012 R2 obviously has the most features, but it won't be the cheapest.

What do you need?

something very simple for my company. Probably 5 pcs not that many. I was looking into windows 2008 because is cheaper.

5?

I'd just buy a beefy Windows 8 PC and set up the file server (or whatever else you're 'serving' from it).

More information would help.
