Been this way for years. Here's what's new in the East though (and it's rather macabre):
17, 13 & 10-game losing streaks pre-Christmas (last two active)
almost 25 games into the season, and you're basically looking at 3 20-loss teams and half the conference with 15 losses or on pace to.
the bottom 4 teams have a combined grand total of 5 road wins, the same as 9th-place Sacramento.
Lakers stinking so bad (6-16, tied for 2nd-2-last) yet their legends disparaging them for their weak tank.

Raptors actually have the 2nd best SRS in the league and have a SOS more difficult than GSW, MEM, LAC, DAL, SAS, and Houston. All teams that would rank higher than them. Cleveland has the seventh highest SRS and have played an even more difficult schedule.

Feat for the ages.
The disparity between 2nd and 3rd Atlanta and Washington (15-6) and 2nd and 3rd Memphis and Portland (17-4 and 17-5) is truly disgusting and shameful.
I will never look on the East the same way again.

Teams that need 50-55 wins to make the Playoffs play differently than teams that just need ~40 wins. Just saying, apples and oranges and stuff.

The east is all time worst level, what more can we say, literally two teams could challenge the west right now which is healthy bulls, yeah with rose playing like a man, and cavs once they get on the roll, and they are coming.
It's amazing how a team like hawks, who were supposed to rebuild or something like that are at 2nd/3rd place. It's like they can't get rid of the mediocrity.

If the NBA didn't care about TV ratings, then they would go for a 1-16 playoff format. But since they do care and rely on them, there will never be a 1-16 format.

It makes a lot of sense in which I've already explained to you.
The NBA needs each conference playing each other for the 1st three rounds in order to try to get max ratings throughout the U.S. Without doing so they're going to lose viewership due to the times when games are played.

Yes, you have, and you are wrong. West teams play at East teams at 4/4:30 all throughout the season, and ratings are fine.
Do you think ratings for the West team (OKC) vs. East team (Cavs), because the start time is early (5), will suffer this evening?
It's pretty easy to make the scheduling work.

But you're referring to the REG.season. That won't work in the postseason. Fans more interested in their teams who are in the postseason.
What happens when there's 5-6 or 7 teams from the WC in the second round?
People in the East gonna care / stay up till 10:30 tipoff to watch PHX @ Portland? Nope!
Golden St. fans gonna be happy that their game being played @ Toronto is starting at 4/4:30 EST. Cavs fans gonna be happy because the 2nd game of the double header is Cleveland @ Clippers?
Nope!
NBA will not do a 1-16

People in the East gonna care / stay up till 10:30 tipoff to watch PHX @ Portland? Nope!Um... are they going to do that anyway right now? You realize that matchup, played at that time, could happen in the playoffs without making any change to the current system.
Golden St. fans gonna be happy that their game being played @ Toronto is starting at 4/4:30 EST. I think they'd be okay. Firstly, the four home games would be played more to their preferred schedule. Secondly, most fans don't cry if they miss the first 30 minutes of a game. DVR's exist.
Anyway, it's a stupid reason to keep the current system that punishes good teams and rewards shit ones.

Yes I do realize that, but the way it is now, EC fans just got done watching 2 EC teams play the early game of the double-header. Hence the NBA giving themselves the chance of getting the highest ratings possible.
I think they'd be okay. Firstly, the four home games would be played more to their preferred schedule. Secondly, most fans don't cry if they miss the first 30 minutes of a game. DVR's exist.
There is no preferred schedule if you have 2 teams from the PST playing at home for a scheduled double header. Not everyone has a DVR and a lot like to go to the bar to watch playoff games. That's why Pacific Coast teams don't start home games until 7/7:30. Cause it gives that person time to get home from work, get a shower and get the bar before tipoff.
Anyway, it's a stupid reason to keep the current system that punishes good teams and rewards shit ones.
I hear ya, but it's all about money and ratings. W/O those 2, the league doesn't exist.

I'd prefer Cuban's idea of moving a few teams to the east, particularly some of those that are in between anyway. Don't want to ruin rivalries like LA/BOS and have them meet the first round in the playoffs]
Also, more reason for Durant to go back home to Washington :applause:
And if Melo wasn't a complete underachiever, Rose wasn't injured for years, and the Pacers didn't dismantle, the East wouldn't seem THAT bad right now. Raptors and Wizards
Toronto is 7-2 against the West so far

well I for one see the discrepancies people have with weaker east teams making the playoffs and then compounding the issue by isolating one western team and one eastern team this ain't the cba anymore mix and match system works fine.
but instead of complaining maybe there is a better way to make the teams more balanced then say just throwing high lvl draft picks at the bottom teams

That isn't even helping.
Last year a below .500 team in the East had no chance to win the lottery.
A really good team in the West had a chance to win the lottery.
East getting worse and worse picks, West having a chance to get a better pick than they should.

Probably not as good, especially if they are missing DeMar to begin with. I would still see them making the playoffs in either conference (at full strength would be mandatory) and have 7-2 record vs the West so far, as well 7-4 record vs the .500+ teams... both are an Eastern Conference team best in this case.
